The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3500
Our master Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding the explanation of the following verse: "And We made not the vision which We showed you but a trial for mankind..." (Al-Isra' 17:60), said that it refers to what was shown to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, with open eyes during the Night of Ascension (Miraj).

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما آیت ذیل کی وضاحت میں: «﴿وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي أَرَيْنَاكَ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلنَّاسِ﴾ [الإسراء: 60] » ”ہم نے اس خواب کو جو ہم نے آپ کو دکھایا، لوگوں کے لئے ایک آزمائش ہی تو بنایا ہے۔“ فرماتے ہیں کہ اس سے مراد وہ چیز ہے جو نبی ﷺ کو شب معراج بیداری میں آنکھوں سے دکھائی گئی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a aayat zeal ki wazahat mein: (Wa ma ja'alna ar-ru'ya allati araynaka illa fitnatal lin-nas) "Hum ne is khawab ko jo hum ne aap ko dikhaya, logon ke liye ek azmaish hi to banaya hai." Faramate hain ke is se murad wo cheez hai jo Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko shab e miraj bedari mein aankhon se dikhai gai.
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عِكْرِمَةَ يَقُولُ: كَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي أَرَيْنَاكَ إِلا فِتْنَةً لِلنَّاسِ سورة الإسراء آية 60، قَالَ:" شَيْءٌ أُرِيَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْيَقَظَةِ، رَآهُ بِعَيْنِهِ حِينَ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ".
