The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3501
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, "If the son of Adam were to have a whole valley filled with wealth, he would wish for another valley like it. And nothing can fill the belly of the son of Adam except dust (i.e., death), except for the one whom Allah turns to in repentance. Indeed, Allah turns with mercy to those who repent." Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said, "I do not know whether this is now a part of the Quran or not."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو یہ ارشاد فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ ”اگر ابن آدم کے پاس مال و دولت سے بھری ہوئی پوری وادی بھی ہو تو اس کی خواہش یہی ہوگی کہ اس جیسی ایک اور وادی بھی اس کے پاس ہو، اور ابن آدم کا پیٹ مٹی کے علاوہ کوئی چیز نہیں بھر سکتی، البتہ جو توبہ کر لیتا ہے اللہ اس کی طرف متوجہ ہو جاتا ہے“، سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ مجھے معلوم نہیں، اب یہ قرآن کا حصہ ہے یا نہیں؟
Sayyda Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma se marvi hai ki maine Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye irshad farmate huye suna hai ki “Agar Ibn Adam ke pass mal o daulat se bhari hui poori wadi bhi ho to uski khwahish yahi hogi ki us jaisi ek aur wadi bhi uske pass ho, aur Ibn Adam ka pet mitti ke ilawa koi cheez nahi bhar sakti, albatta jo tauba kar leta hai Allah uski taraf mutawajjah ho jata hai”, Sayyda Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma farmate hain ki mujhe maloom nahi, ab ye Quran ka hissa hai ya nahi?.
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءً ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ: سمعتُ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يقول:" لَوْ أَنَّ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيًا مَالًا، لَأَحَبَّ أَنَّ لَهُ إِلَيْهِ مِثْلَهُ، وَلَا يَمْلَأُ نَفْسَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ، وَاللَّهُ يَتُوبُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ". فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: فَلَا أَدْرِي أَمِنَ الْقُرْآنِ هُوَ أَمْ لَا؟.
