The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3508
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when the mother of Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, he was not present. Later, he submitted in the court of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): “O Messenger of Allah! My mother has passed away in my absence. So, if I give some charity on her behalf, will she benefit from it?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Yes!" Upon this, he said, "Then I call upon you to bear witness that I have given my garden in charity on her behalf."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جس وقت سیدنا سعد بن عبادہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی والدہ کا انتقال ہوا، وہ اس وقت ان کے پاس موجود نہ تھے، بعد میں انہوں نے بارگاہ رسالت میں عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! میری غیر موجودگی میں میری والدہ کا انتقال ہو گیا ہے تو کیا اگر میں ان کی طرف سے کچھ صدقہ کروں تو انہیں اس کا فائدہ ہوگا؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ہاں!“ اس پر وہ کہنے لگے کہ پھر میں آپ کو گواہ بناتا ہوں کہ میرا ایک باغ ہے، وہ میں نے ان کے نام پر صدقہ کر دیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma se marvi hai ke jis waqt Sayyidna Saad bin Ubadah Raziallahu Anhu ki walida ka inteqal hua, woh us waqt un ke paas mojood na the, baad mein unhon ne bargah risalat mein arz kiya: Ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! meri ghair maujoodgi mein meri walida ka inteqal ho gaya hai to kya agar mein un ki taraf se kuch sadqah karoon to unhen iska faidah hoga? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Haan!" is par woh kehne lage ke phir mein aap ko gawah banata hun ke mera ek bagh hai, woh mein ne un ke naam par sadqah kar diya.
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عِكْرِمَةَ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمُّهُ وَهُوَ غَائِبٌ عَنْهَا، فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ، وَأَنَا غَائِبٌ عَنْهَا، فَهَلْ يَنْفَعُهَا إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ:" نَعَمْ" قَالَ: فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنَّ حَائِطِي الْمَخْرَفَ صَدَقَةٌ عَنْهَا.
