Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4489
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever out of arrogance trails his garment (on the ground), Allah will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Judgment." Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked (as narrated by Naafi', may Allah have mercy on him), "What about us?" (Because women's clothes are long and usually gather at the ankles). He (the Prophet) said, "Let (them) lower their garments by a handspan." They asked, "Then our feet will become uncovered?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Do not increase it beyond a handspan (that amount is excused)."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”جو شخص تکبر کی وجہ سے اپنے کپڑے گھسیٹتا ہوا چلتا ہے (کپڑے زمین پر گھستے جاتے ہیں) اللہ قیامت کے دن اس پر نظر رحم نہ فرمائے گا۔“ سیدہ ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے (نافع رحمہ اللہ کے بقول) عرض کیا کہ ہمارے ساتھ کیا ہو گا؟ (کیونکہ عورتوں کے کپڑے بڑے ہوتے ہیں اور عام طور پر شلوار پاؤنچوں میں آ رہی ہوتی ہے) فرمایا: ”ایک بالشت کپڑا اونچا کر لیا کرو۔“ انہوں نے پھر عرض کیا کہ اس طرح تو ہمارے پاؤں نظر آنے لگیں گے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ایک بالشت پر اضافہ نہ کرنا (اتنی مقدارمعاف ہے)۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: “Jo shakhs takabbur ki wajah se apne kapde ghasitta hua chalta hai (kapde zameen par ghaste jate hain) Allah qayamat ke din us par nazar-e-reham na farmayega.” Sayyida Umm Salma ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne (Nafi’ Rahimahullah ke baqaul) arz kiya ki hamare sath kya hoga? (kyunki auraton ke kapde bade hote hain aur aam taur par shalwar paonchon mein aa rahi hoti hai) farmaya: “Ek baalishth kapda uncha kar liya karo.” Unhon ne phir arz kiya ki is tarah to hamare paon nazar aane lagenge? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Ek baalishth par izafa na karna (itni miqdar maaf hai).”
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ الَّذِي يَجُرُّ ثَوْبَهُ مِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ"، قَالَ نَافِعٌ: فَأُنْبِئْتُ أَنَّ أمَّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: فَكَيْفَ بِنَا؟ قَالَ:" شِبْرًا"، قَالَتْ: إِذَنْ تَبْدُوَ أَقْدَامُنَا؟ قَالَ:" ذِرَاعًا، لَا تَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ".
