Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4523
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard Sayyidna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) swearing by his father. So he said, "Allah Almighty forbids you from swearing by your forefathers. So, when any of you intends to swear, he should swear by Allah, otherwise he should remain silent." Sayyidna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "After this, I never swore such an oath, neither intentionally nor while narrating."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو اپنے باپ کی قسم کھاتے ہوئے سنا تو فرمایا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ تمہیں اپنے آباؤ اجداد کے نام کی قسمیں کھانے سے روکتا ہے اس لئے جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص قسم کھانا چاہئے تو اللہ کے نام کی قسم کھائے ورنہ خاموش رہے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ اس کے بعد میں نے جان بوجھ کر یا نقل کرتے ہوئے بھی ایسی قسم نہیں کھائی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar RA se marvi hai ki aik martaba Nabi Kareem SAW ne Sayyidna Umar RA ko apne baap ki qasam khate huye suna to farmaya ki Allah Ta'ala tumhein apne abao ajdad ke naam ki qasmein khane se rokta hai is liye jab tum mein se koi shakhs qasam khana chahiye to Allah ke naam ki qasam khaye warna khamosh rahe Sayyidna Umar RA farmate hain ki is ke baad mein ne jaan boojh kar ya naqal karte huye bhi aisi qasam nahin khai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعَ عُمَر َوَهُوَ يَقُول: وَأَبِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ، فَإِذَا حَلَفَ أَحَدُكُمْ، فَلْيَحْلِفْ بِاللَّهِ أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ"، قَالَ عُمَرُ: فَمَا حَلَفْتُ بِهَا بَعْدُ ذَاكِرًا وَلَا آثِرًا.
