Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4538
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Messenger of Allah!! What clothes can a Muhrim wear? Or he asked what clothes should a Muhrim abandon? The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He cannot wear a shirt, trousers, a turban, or socks, unless he does not find shoes. Whoever does not find shoes, he should wear socks cut below the ankles. Similarly, he cannot wear a cap or such cloth on which there is a grass named Warsh or saffron."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک آدمی نے نبی کریم ﷺ سے پوچھا: یا رسول اللہ!! محرم کون سا لباس پہن سکتا ہے؟ یا یہ پوچھا کہ محرم کون سا لباس ترک کر دے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”قمیض شلوار عمامہ اور موزے نہیں پہن سکتا الاّ یہ کہ اسے جوتے نہ ملیں جس شخص کو جوتے نہ ملیں اسے چاہئے کہ وہ موزوں کو ٹخنوں سے نیچے کاٹ کر پہن لے اسی طرح ٹوپی یا ایسا کپڑا جس پر ورس نامی گھاس یا زعفران لگی ہوئی وہ بھی محرم نہیں پہن سکتا۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki aik aadmi ne Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se poocha: Ya Rasul Allah!! Muharram kaun sa libas pehn sakta hai? Ya ye poocha ki muharram kaun sa libas tark kar de? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Qameez shalwar amama aur mozey nahi pehn sakta illa ye ki use joote na milen jis shakhs ko joote na milen use chahiye ki wo mozon ko takhnon se neeche kaat kar pehn le isi tarah topi ya aisa kapda jis par wars nami ghas ya zaffran lagi hui wo bhi muharram nahi pehn sakta.".
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ؟ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً: مَا يَتْرُكُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ؟ فَقَالَ:" لَا يَلْبَسُ الْقَمِيصَ، وَلَا الْبُرْنُسَ، وَلَا السَّرَاوِيلَ، وَلَا الْعِمَامَةَ، وَلَا ثَوْبًا مَسَّهُ الْوَرْسُ، وَلَا الزَّعْفَرَانُ، وَلَا الْخُفَّيْنِ، إِلَّا لِمَنْ لَا يَجِدُ نَعْلَيْنِ، فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسْ الْخُفَّيْنِ، وَلْيَقْطَعْهُمَا حَتَّى يَكُونَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ".
