Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4857
Ibn Aun (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “I wrote a letter to Nafi (may Allah have mercy on him) asking him whether the polytheists were invited to Islam before fighting with them.” He wrote to me in reply, saying: “This was done in the early days of Islam. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) attacked Banu Mustaliq, they were unaware and their animals were drinking water. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) killed their fighters, captured the rest, and on that very day, Sayyidah Juwairiyah bint al-Harith came to be among those distributed (as slaves). This hadith was narrated to me by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) who participated in that battle.”

ابن عون رحمہ اللہ کہتے کہ میں نے نافع رحمہ اللہ کے پاس ایک خط لکھا جس میں ان سے دریافت کیا کہ کیا قتال سے پہلے مشرکین کو دعوت دی جاتی تھی؟ انہوں نے مجھے جواب میں لکھ بھیجا کہ ایسا ابتداء اسلام میں ہوتا تھا اور نبی ﷺ نے بنو مصطلق پر جس وقت حملہ کیا تھا وہ لوگ غافل تھے اور ان کے جانور پانی پی رہے تھے، نبی ﷺ نے ان کے لڑاکا لوگوں کو قتل کر دیا، بقیہ افراد کو قید کر لیا اور اسی دن سیدہ جویرہ بنت حارث ان کے حصے میں آئیں، مجھ سے یہ حدیث سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کی ہے جو لشکر میں شریک تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، قَالَ: كَتَبْتُ إِلَى نافِعٍ أَسْأَلُهُ هَلْ كَانَتْ الدَّعْوَةُ قَبْلَ الْقِتَالِ؟ قَالَ: فَكَتَبَ إِلَيَّ إِنَّ ذَاكَ كَانَ فِي أَوَّلِ الْإِسْلَامِ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ" أَغَارَ عَلَى بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ وَهُمْ غَارُّونَ، وَأَنْعَامُهُمْ تُسْقَى عَلَى الْمَاءِ، فَقَتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتَهُمْ، وَسَبَى سَبْيَهُمْ، وَأَصَابَ يَوْمَئِذٍ جُوَيْرِيَةَ ابْنَةَ الْحَارِثِ"، وَحَدَّثَنِي بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، وَكَانَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْجَيْشِ.
