Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5294
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do not fast until you see the new moon, and do not celebrate Eid until you see it. If it is hidden from you by clouds, then estimate it.”

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”جب تک چاند دیکھ نہ لو، روزہ نہ رکھو اور چاند دیکھے بغیر عید بھی نہ مناؤ، اگر تم پر بادل چھا جائیں تو اندازہ کر لو۔“
Saina Ibne Umar Raza Allahu Anhuma se marvi hai ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: "Jab tak chand dekh na lo, roza na rakho aur chand dekhe baghair Eid bhi na manao, agar tum par badal chha jayen to andaza kar lo."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:" لَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْا الْهِلَالَ، وَلَا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاقْدُرُوا لَهُ".
