Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5481
It is narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that once Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! Are the deeds that we do already written or do we do them first?" He said: “No! Rather, they are already written. Therefore, O Ibn Khattab! Keep on doing (good) deeds, because whoever is created for a purpose, the means are made easy for him and that work is made easy for him, so if he is among the people of happiness, then he does the deeds of the fortunate, and if he is among the people of misery, then he does the deeds of the unfortunate."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی ﷺ سے دریافت کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! ہم جو عمل کرتے ہیں کیا وہ پہلے سے لکھا جا چکا ہے یا ہمارا عمل پہلے ہوتا ہے؟ فرمایا: ”نہیں! بلکہ وہ پہلے سے لکھا جا چکا ہے لہٰذا، اے ابن خطاب! عمل کرتے رہو کیونکہ جو شخص جس مقصد کے لئے پیدا کیا گیا ہے اسے اس کے اسباب مہیا کر دئیے جاتے ہیں اور وہ عمل اس کے لئے آسان کر دیا جاتا ہے، چنانچہ اگر وہ اہل سعادت میں سے ہو تو وہ سعادت والے اعمال کرتا ہے اور اہل شقاوت میں سے ہو تو بدبختی والے اعمال کرتا ہے۔
Sayyida Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Sayyida Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se daryaft kiya ki Ya Rasul Allah hum jo amal karte hain kya wo pehle se likha ja chuka hai ya hamara amal pehle hota hai Farmaya nahi balki wo pehle se likha ja chuka hai lihaza aye Ibn Khattab amal karte raho kyunki jo shakhs jis maqsad ke liye paida kiya gaya hai use uske asbab muhayya kar diye jate hain aur wo amal uske liye asan kar diya jata hai chunancha agar wo ahl saadat mein se ho to wo saadat wale amal karta hai aur ahl shaqawat mein se ho to badbakhti wale amal karta hai
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ مَا نَعْمَلُ فِيهِ، أَمْرٌ مُبْتَدَعٌ أَوْ مُبْتَدَأٌ، أَوْ أَمْرٌ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ؟ قَالَ:" أَمْرٌ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ، فَاعْمَلْ يَا ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، فَإِنَّ كُلًّا مُيَسَّرٌ، فَأَمَّا مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّعَادَةِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَعْمَلُ لِلسَّعَادَةِ، وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّقَاءِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَعْمَلُ لِلشَّقَاءِ".
