Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5674
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) invoking this curse: "O Allah! Curse so-and-so, O Allah! Send down Your curse on Harith bin Hisham, Suhayl bin Amr, and Safwan bin Umayyah." Upon this, this verse was revealed: "Not for you (O Prophet) is the decision; whether He turns towards them in forgiveness, or punishes them..." So, Allah's attention was drawn to them and they accepted Islam.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کو ایک مرتبہ یہ بددعاء کرتے ہوئے سنا کہ اے اللہ! فلاں پر لعنت نازل فرما، اے اللہ! حارث بن ہشام، سہیل بن عمرو اور صفوان بن امیہ پر اپنی لعنت نازل فرما، اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی کہ آپ کا اس معاملے میں کوئی اختیار نہیں کہ اللہ ان کی طرف متوجہ ہو جائے یا انہیں سزا دے کہ یہ ظالم ہیں، چنانچہ ان سب پر اللہ کی توجہ مبذول ہوئی اور انہوں نے اسلام قبول کر لیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ek martaba yeh baddua karte hue suna ki aye Allah! Falan par laanat nazil farma, aye Allah! Haris bin Hisham, Suhail bin Amro aur Safwan bin Umayya par apni laanat nazil farma, is par yeh ayat nazil hui ki aap ka is mamle mein koi ikhtiyar nahi ki Allah un ki taraf mutawajja ho jaye ya unhen saza de ki yeh zalim hain, chunancha un sab par Allah ki tawajjuh mabzul hui aur unhon ne Islam qubul kar liya.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ ، قال عبد الله بن أحمد: قَالَ أَبِي: وَهُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَقِيلٍ، صَالِحُ الْحَدِيثِ، ثِقَةٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَمْزةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:" اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ فُلَانًا، اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنِ الْحَارِثَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ سُهَيْلَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو، اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ أُمَيَّةَ"، قَالَ: فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ سورة آل عمران آية 128، قَالَ: فَتِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ كُلِّهِمْ.
