Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5713
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gifted me a silk garment from amongst those that were gifted to him by Kisra (Chosroes). When I tied the lower garment, it covered me only in length and breadth. So I folded it and covered myself with a sheet on top, and went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wearing it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) held my neck and said, "O Abdullah! Keep the lower garment above (your ankles). That part of the trousers below the ankles which touches the ground will be in the Hellfire." Abdullah ibn Muhammad (the narrator) says that after that, I have not seen anyone more careful than Sayyidina Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) in keeping his ankles uncovered.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے مجھے ان ریشمی جوڑوں میں سے ایک ریشمی جوڑا عنایت فرمایا جو فیروز نے نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں پیش کئے تھے، میں نے تہبند باندھا تو صرف اسی نے طول و عرض میں مجھے ڈھانپ لیا، میں نے اسے لپیٹا اور اوپر سے چادر اوڑھ لی اور اسے پہن کر نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا، نبی ﷺ نے میری گردن پکڑ کر فرمایا: ”اے عبداللہ! تہبند اوپر کرو، ٹخنوں سے نیچے شلوار کا جو حصہ زمین پر لگے گا وہ جہنم میں ہو گا“، عبداللہ بن محمد راوی کہتے ہیں کہ اس کے بعد میں نے کسی انسان کو سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے زیادہ اہتمام کے ساتھ اپنے ٹخنے ننگے رکھنے والا کسی کو نہیں دیکھا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhe in reshmi joron mein se ek reshmi jora inayat farmaya jo Feroz ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein pesh kiye thay, maine tahband bandha to sirf usi ne tul o arz mein mujhe dhaanp liya, maine use lapeta aur upar se chadar odh li aur use pehen kar Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein haazir hua, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne meri gardan pakad kar farmaya: “Ae Abdullah! Tahband upar karo, takhnon se neeche shalwar ka jo hissa zameen par lagega woh jahannam mein hoga”, Abdullah bin Muhammad raavi kehte hain ki iske baad maine kisi insan ko Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se zyada ehtimam ke sath apne takhne nange rakhne wala kisi ko nahi dekha.
حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: كَسَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حُلَّةً مِنْ حُلَلِ السِّيَرَاءِ، أَهْدَاهَا لَهُ فَيْرُوزُ، فَلَبِسْتُ الْإِزَارَ، فَأَغْرَقَنِي طُولًا وَعَرْضًا، فَسَحَبْتُهُ، وَلَبِسْتُ الرِّدَاءَ، فَتَقَنَّعْتُ بِهِ، فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَاتِقِي، فَقَالَ: يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بن عمر،" ارْفَعْ الْإِزَارَ، فَإِنَّ مَا مَسَّتْ الْأَرْضُ مِنَ الْإِزَارِ إِلَى مَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ فِي النَّارِ"، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ: فَلَمْ أَرَ إِنْسَانًا قَطُّ أَشَدَّ تَشْمِيرًا مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ.
