Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5750
Bishr bin Harb said: I asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about fasting while traveling. He said, "If I narrate to you a hadith, will you act upon it?" I said: "Yes!" He said, "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he would go out from this city (for a journey) he would shorten the prayer and not fast until he returned (and would make up the fasts later)."

بشر بن حرب کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ دوران سفر روزہ کے متعلق آپ کیا فرماتے ہیں؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ اگر میں تم سے حدیث بیان کروں تو تم اس پر عمل کرو گے؟ میں نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں! انہوں نے فرمایا کہ نبی ﷺ جب اس شہر سے باہر نکلتے تھے تو نماز میں قصر فرماتے اور واپس آنے تک روزہ نہ رکھتے تھے (بعد میں قضاء کر لیتے تھے)۔
Bashar bin Harb kehte hain ke maine Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se pucha ke dauran safar roze ke mutalliq aap kya farmate hain? Unhon ne farmaya ke agar main tum se hadees bayan karoon to tum us par amal karoge? Maine arz kiya: Ji haan! Unhon ne farmaya ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab is sheher se bahar nikalte the to namaz mein qasr farmate aur wapas aane tak roza na rakhte the (baad mein qaza kar lete the).
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثِ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: مَا تَقُولُ فِي الصَّوْمِ فِي السَّفَرِ؟ قَالَ: تَأْخُذُ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ؟! , قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ قَصَرَ الصَّلَاةَ وَلَمْ يَصُمْ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهَا".
