Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5829
Abu Sha'tha (may Allah have mercy on him) said that once a person asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), "We go to our rulers and say one thing, and when we come out, we say something else." Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "During the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we used to consider this hypocrisy."

ابوالشعثاء رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ کسی شخص نے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما پوچھا کہ ہم لوگ اپنے حکمرانوں کے پاس جاتے ہیں تو کچھ کہتے ہیں اور جب باہر نکلتے ہیں تو کچھ کہتے ہیں؟ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ نبی ﷺ کے دور باسعادت میں اس چیز کو ہم نفاق سمجھتے تھے۔
Abualshasaa rehmatullah alaih kehte hain ke ek martaba kisi shakhs ne Sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma poocha ke hum log apne hukumrano ke paas jate hain to kuch kehte hain aur jab bahar nikalte hain to kuch kehte hain? Sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma ne farmaya ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke daur ba saadat mein is cheez ko hum nifaq samajhte the.
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ : إِنَّا نَدْخُلُ عَلَى أُمَرَائِنَا، فَنَقُولُ الْقَوْلَ، فَإِذَا خَرَجْنَا قُلْنَا غَيْرَهُ؟! فَقَالَ: كُنَّا نَعُدُّ هَذَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النِّفَاقَ.
