Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5887
It is narrated by Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had a gold ring made. When people saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) wearing it, they also had gold rings made. One day, the Prophet (peace be upon him) stood up and said: I used to wear this ring. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) took it off and threw it away, and the people also threw away their rings.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے سونے کی انگوٹھی بنوائی، نبی ﷺ کو دیکھ کر لوگوں نے بھی سونے کی انگوٹھیاں بنوا لیں، ایک دن نبی ﷺ کھڑے ہوئے اور فرمایا: میں یہ انگوٹھی پہنتا تھا، پھر نبی ﷺ نے اسے پھینک دیا اور لوگوں نے بھی اپنی انگوٹھیاں پھینک دیں۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki aik martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sone ki anguthi banwai, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko dekh kar logon ne bhi sone ki anguthiyan banwa lein, aik din Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kharay huay aur farmaya: mein yeh anguthi pehenta tha, phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne isay phenk diya aur logon ne bhi apni anguthiyan phenk dein.
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ , أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" أَنَّهُ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَلَبِسَهُ، فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ الذَّهَبِ، فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ:" إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبَسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ، وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا"، فَنَبَذَهُ، فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ.
