Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5889
Muhammad bin Amr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that once, he was sitting in the marketplace with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) while Salmah bin Azraq was sitting beside them. At that moment, a funeral procession passed by, accompanied by the sounds of mourning. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) remarked, "It would be better for their deceased if these people would refrain from weeping and wailing." Salmah bin Azraq exclaimed, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! Are you saying this?" He replied, "Yes, I am saying this. Once, someone from the family of a deceased person passed away, and the women gathered and began to weep over him. The deceased said, 'O Abd al-Malik! Go and stop those women from crying.'" Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) was present there, and I heard him say with my own ears, "Let them be. Once, when someone from the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, the women gathered and began to weep. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and began to scold and forbid them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'O Ibn al-Khattab! Leave them be, for the eye sheds tears, and the heart grieves, and the wound is still fresh.'" They asked, "Did you hear this narration directly from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him)?" He replied, "Yes." Salmah then asked, "Did Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said, "Yes." Upon this, he (Salmah) remarked, "Allah and His Messenger know best."

محمد بن عمرو رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کے ساتھ بازار میں بیٹھے ہوئے تھے، کہ ان کی ایک جانب سلمہ بن ازرق بھی بیٹھے تھے، اتنے میں وہاں سے ایک جنازہ گزرا جس کے پیچھے رونے کی آوازیں آ رہی تھیں، سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا: اگر یہ لوگ رونا دھوناچھوڑ دیں تو ان ہی کے مردے کے حق میں بہتر ہو، سلمہ بن ازرق کہنے لگے: ابوعبدالرحمن! یہ آپ کہہ رہے ہیں؟ فرمایا: ہاں! یہ میں ہی کہہ رہا ہوں، کیونکہ ایک مرتبہ مروان کے اہل خانہ میں سے کوئی مر گیا، عورتیں اکٹھی ہو کر اس پر رونے لگیں، مروان کہنے لگا کہ عبدالملک! جاؤ، ان عورتوں کو رونے سے منع کرو، سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ وہاں موجود تھے، میں نے انہیں یہ کہتے ہوئے خود سنا کہ رہنے دو، ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ کے اہل خانہ میں سے بھی کسی کے انتقال پر خواتین نے جمع ہو کر رونا شروع کر دیا تھا، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کھڑے ہو کر انہیں ڈانٹنا اور منع کرنا شروع کر دیا، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اے ابن خطاب! رہنے دو، کیونکہ آنکھ آنسو بہاتی ہے اور دل غمگین ہوتا ہے اور زخم ابھی ہرا ہے۔“ انہوں نے پوچھا: کیا یہ روایت آپ نے سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے خود سنی ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: ہاں! سلمہ نے پوچھا کہ سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ اسے نبی ﷺ کے حوالے سے نقل کرتے ہیں؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: ہاں! اس پر وہ کہنے لگے کہ اللہ اور اس کا رسول ہی بہتر جانتے ہیں۔
Muhammad bin Amro rehmatullah alaih kehte hain ki ek martaba sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma ke sath bazaar mein baithe hue the, ki un ki ek janib Salma bin Azraq bhi baithe the, itne mein wahan se ek janaza guzra jis ke peeche rone ki awazen aa rahi thin, sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma ne farmaya: Agar ye log rona dhona chhor dein to un hi ke murde ke haq mein behtar ho, Salma bin Azraq kehne lage: Abu Abdullah Rehman! Ye aap keh rahe hain? Farmaya: Haan! Ye mein hi keh raha hun, kyunki ek martaba marwan ke ahl khana mein se koi mar gaya, auraten ikatthi ho kar us par rone lagin, marwan kehne laga ki Abdul Malik! Jao, in auraton ko rone se mana karo, sayyiduna Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu wahan mojood the, maine unhen ye kehte hue khud suna ki rehne do, ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke ahl khana mein se bhi kisi ke inteqal par khawateen ne jama ho kar rona shuru kar diya tha, sayyiduna Umar razi Allah anhu ne khade ho kar unhen daantna aur mana karna shuru kar diya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Ae Ibn Khattab! Rehne do, kyunki aankh aansu bahati hai aur dil ghamgeen hota hai aur zakhm abhi hara hai." Unhon ne pucha: Kya ye riwayat aap ne sayyiduna Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu se khud suni hai? Unhon ne farmaya: Haan! Salma ne pucha ki sayyiduna Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu ise Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke hawale se naqal karte hain? Unhon ne farmaya: Haan! Is par wo kehne lage ki Allah aur us ka Rasul hi behtar jante hain.
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ , أَنَّهُ كَانَ جَالِسًا مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ بِالسُّوقِ، وَمَعَهُ سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْأَزْرَقِ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ، فَمُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ يَتْبَعُهَا بُكَاءٌ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ : لَوْ تَرَكَ أَهْلُ هَذَا الْمَيِّتِ الْبُكَاءَ، لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَمَيِّتِهِمْ، فَقَالَ سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْأَزْرَقِ: تَقُولُ ذَلِكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ أَقُولُهُ، قَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، وَمَاتَ مَيِّتٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَرْوَانَ، فَاجْتَمَعَ النِّسَاءُ يَبْكِينَ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ: قُمْ يَا عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ فَانْهَهُنَّ أَنْ يَبْكِينَ، فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : دَعْهُنَّ، فَإِنَّهُ مَاتَ مَيِّتٌ مِنْ آلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاجْتَمَعَ النِّسَاءُ يَبْكِينَ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَامَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَنْهَاهُنَّ وَيَطْرُدُهُنَّ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" دَعْهُنَّ يَا ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، فَإِنَّ الْعَيْنَ دَامِعَةٌ، وَالْفُؤَادَ مُصَابٌ، وَإِنَّ الْعَهْدَ حَدِيثٌ"، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: يَأْثُرُهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَاللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ.
