Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 5997
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to curse some of the polytheists by name. Upon this, the verse was revealed that you have no authority in this matter, whether Allah guides them or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stopped cursing them.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ مشرکین کے چند آدمیوں پر نام لے بددعاء فرماتے تھے، اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی کہ آپ کا اس معاملے میں کوئی اختیار نہیں کہ اللہ ان کی طرف متوجہ ہو جائے یا انہیں سزا دے کہ یہ ظالم ہیں۔ چنانچہ نبی ﷺ نے انہیں بددعاء دینا چھوڑ دیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mushrikeen ke chand admiyon par naam lekar baddua farmate thy, is par yah ayat nazil hui ki aap ka is mamle mein koi ikhtiyar nahin ki Allah un ki taraf mutawajjah ho jaye ya unhen saza de ki yah zalim hain. Chunancha Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen baddua dena chhor diya.
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُو عَلَى رِجَالٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يُسَمِّيهِمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ، حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ سورة آل عمران آية 128، فَتَرَكَ ذَلِكَ.
