Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 6173
Narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he was standing in the plain of Arafat. He looked at the sun, which was hanging like a shield, ready to set. Upon seeing it, he began to cry and he cried intensely. A man asked, “O Abu Abdur Rahman, I have had the opportunity to stand with you many times, but you have never done this before?” He replied, “I was reminded of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He too stood in this very place and said, ‘O people! The life of this world, in comparison to what has passed, is only as much as what remains of this day compared to what has already passed.' "

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ وہ ایک مرتبہ میدان عرفات میں وقوف کئے ہوئے تھے انہوں نے سورج کو دیکھا جو غروب کے لئے ڈھال کی طرح لٹک آیا تھا وہ اسے دیکھ کر رونے لگے اور خوب روئے ایک آدمی نے پوچھا کہ اے ابو عبدالرحمن آپ کے ساتھ مجھے کئی مرتبہ وقوف کا موقع ملا ہے لیکن کبھی آپ نے ایسا نہیں کیا؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: کہ مجھے نبی ﷺ کی یاد آگئی وہ بھی اسی جگہ پر وقوف کئے ہوئے تھے انہوں نے فرمایا: تھا لوگو! دنیا کی جتنی زندگی گزر چکی ہے اس کے بقیہ حصے کی نسبت صرف اتنی ہی ہے جتنی اس دن کے بقیہ حصے کی گزرے ہوئے دن کے ساتھ ہے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki woh ek martaba maidan Arafat mein waqoof kiye hue the unhon ne sooraj ko dekha jo ghuroob ke liye dhaal ki tarah latak aaya tha woh ise dekh kar rone lage aur khoob roye ek aadmi ne poocha ki aye Abu Abdur Rahman aap ke sath mujhe kai martaba waqoof ka mauqa mila hai lekin kabhi aap ne aisa nahi kiya unhon ne farmaya ki mujhe Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki yaad aa gai woh bhi isi jagah par waqoof kiye hue the unhon ne farmaya tha logo duniya ki jitni zindagi guzar chuki hai uske baqi hisse ki nisbat sirf utni hi hai jitni is din ke baqi hisse ki guzre hue din ke sath hai
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنِي كَثِيرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّهُ كَانَ وَاقِفًا بِعَرَفَاتٍ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَى الشَّمْسِ حِينَ تَدَلَّتْ مِثْلَ التُّرْسِ لِلْغُرُوبِ، فَبَكَى، وَاشْتَدَّ بُكَاؤُهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَهُ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَدْ وَقَفْتَ مَعِي مِرَارًا لِمَ تَصْنَعُ هَذَا! فَقَالَ: ذَكَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ وَاقِفٌ بِمَكَانِي هَذَا، فَقَالَ:" أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ دُنْيَاكُمْ فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهَا إِلَّا كَمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهُ".
