Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 8990
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Khyber, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "I will give this flag to the one who loves Allah and His Messenger, and it is in his hands that this fort will be conquered." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) states, "Before this, I had never desired leadership. In the hope that perhaps the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) might hand over the flag to me, I started craning my neck and looking around. But when the next day came, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) summoned Ali (may Allah honor his face) and handed over the flag to him, saying, 'Fight them, and do not turn your attention away until victory is achieved.' So he set off. He had barely gone some distance when he called out, 'O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), how long should I fight them?' He replied, 'Until they bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah. Once they do so, they have secured their lives and wealth from me, except for the right of this declaration, and their reckoning is with Allah.'"

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے غزوہ خیبر کے دن فرمایا میں یہ جھنڈا اس شخص کو دوں گا جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول سے محبت کرتا ہوگا اور اسی کے ہاتھ پر یہ قلعہ فتح ہوگا حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ مجھے اس سے قبل کبھی امارت کا شوق نہیں رہا میں نے اس امید پر کہ شاید نبی کریم ﷺ جھنڈا میرے حوالے کردیں اپنی گردن بلند کرنا اور جھانکنا شروع کردیا لیکن جب اگلا دن ہوا تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے حضرت علی کرم اللہ وجہہ کو بلا کر وہ جھنڈا ان کے حوالے کردیا اور فرمایا ان سے قتال کرو اور جب تک فتح نہ ہوجائے کسی طرف توجہ نہ کرو۔ چنانچہ وہ روانہ ہوگئے ابھی کچھ ہی دورگئے تھے کہ پکار کر پوچھا یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ان سے کب تک قتال کروں؟ فرمایا یہاں تک کہ وہ اس بات کی گواہی دینے لگیں کہ اللہ کے علاوہ کوئی معبود نہیں اور محمد ﷺ اللہ کے رسول ہیں جب وہ ایسا کرلیں تو انہوں نے اپنے جان مال کو مجھ سے محفوظ کرلیا سوائے اس کلمے کے حق کے اور ان کا حساب اللہ کے ذمے ہوگا۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira razi Allah anhu se marvi hai keh Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Ghazwa Khaibar ke din farmaya mein yeh jhanda iss shakhs ko dun ga jo Allah aur uske Rasul se mohabbat karta hoga aur isi ke hath par yeh qila fatah hoga Hazrat Umar razi Allah anhu farmate hain keh mujhe iss se pehle kabhi imarat ka shauq nahi raha mein ne iss umeed par keh shayad Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jhanda mere hawale kar den apni gardan buland karna aur jhankna shuru kar diya lekin jab agla din hua to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Hazrat Ali karam Allah wajahu ko bula kar woh jhanda unke hawale kar diya aur farmaya unse qital karo aur jab tak fatah na ho jaye kisi taraf tawajjuh na karo chunache woh rawana ho gaye abhi kuch hi door gaye the keh pukar kar pucha ya Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) unse kab tak qital karun farmaya yahan tak keh woh iss baat ki gawahi dene lagien keh Allah ke ilawa koi mabood nahi aur Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Allah ke Rasul hain jab woh aisa kar len to unhon ne apne jaan maal ko mujh se mahfooz kar liya siwaye iss kalme ke haq ke aur unka hisab Allah ke zimme hoga.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ:" لَأَدْفَعَنَّ الرَّايَةَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ، يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ"، قَالَ: فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: فَمَا أَحْبَبْتُ الْإِمَارَةَ قَبْلَ يَوْمَئِذٍ، فَتَطَاوَلْتُ لَهَا وَاسْتَشْرَفْتُ، رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَدْفَعَهَا إِلَيَّ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْغَدُ دَعَا عَلِيًّا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ:" قَاتِلْ وَلَا تَلْتَفِتْ حَتَّى يُفْتَحَ عَلَيْكَ"، فَسَارَ قَرِيبًا، ثُمَّ نَادَى: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، علَى ماَ أُقَاتِلُ؟ قَالَ: " حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ، فَقَدْ مَنَعُوا مِنِّي دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا، وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ" .
