Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 9786
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), once when the Iqamah (call to prayer) was being recited, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived and stood in his place. When the Takbir (saying 'Allahu Akbar' to start the prayer) was about to be said, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured with his hand to the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to stay where they were, and he left. When he returned, drops of water were dripping from his head. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in prayer. And after finishing the prayer, he said, "Ghusl (ritual bath) was obligatory on me, but I forgot to perform it."

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نماز کی اقامت ہونے لگی نبی کریم ﷺ بھی تشریف لے آئے اور اپنے مقام پر کھڑے ہوگئے جب تکبیر ہونے لگی تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہ کو ہاتھ کے اشارے سے فرمایا کہ تم لوگ یہیں ٹھہرو اور نبی کریم ﷺ تشریف لے گئے جب واپس آئے تو سر سے پانی کے قطرات ٹپک رہے تھے پھر آپ ﷺ نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی۔ اور نماز سے فارغ ہو کر فرمایا مجھ پر غسل واجب تھا لیکن میں غسل کرنا بھول گیا تھا۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba namaz ki aqamat hone lagi Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bhi tashreef le aaye aur apne muqam par kharay hogaye jab takbeer hone lagi to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Sahaba Kiram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko hath ke ishare se farmaya ki tum log yaheen thehro aur Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) tashreef le gaye jab wapas aaye to sar se pani ke qatrat tapak rahe thay phir Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hamen namaz parhai aur namaz se farigh ho kar farmaya mujh par ghusl wajib tha lekin main ghusl karna bhul gaya tha.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ، فَلَمَّا كَبَّرَ انْصَرَفَ، وَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِمْ، أَيْ كَمَا أَنْتُمْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَاغْتَسَلَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى، قَالَ: " إِنِّي كُنْتُ جُنُبًا، فَنَسِيتُ أَنْ أَغْتَسِلَ" .
