Aisha (RA) narrated that she borrowed a necklace from Asma (RA) and it was lost. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) sent a few companions to search for it. When it was time for prayer, they prayed without ablution. When they came to the Prophet (PBUH) and complained about the situation, the verses of Tayammum were revealed. Usayd bin Hudayr (RA) said: May Allah grant you the best reward! By Allah, no (difficult) matter arose but Allah made a way out of it and blessed the Muslims through it.

(١٠٢٨) سیدہ عائشہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ انھوں نے اسمائ (رض) سے ہار عاریتاً لیا تو وہ گم ہوگیا۔ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے چند صحابہ کرام کو اس کی تلاش میں بھیجا ، انھیں نماز کا وقت ہوگیا، انھوں نے بغیر وضو کے نماز پڑھی، جب نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آئے تو اس واقعہ کی شکایت کی۔ چناں چہتیمم کی آیت نازل ہوئی۔ اسید بن حضیر (رض) نے کہا : اللہ تعالیٰ آپ کو بہترین جزا دے۔ اللہ کی قسم ! آپ کی وجہ سے کوئی (مشکل) معاملہ پیش نہیں آیا مگر اللہ نے اس میں نکلنے کا راستہ بنادیا اور مسلمانوں کے لیے اس میں برکت عطا کردی ۔
(1028) Sayyidah Ayesha (Razi Allah Anha) se riwayat hai ki unhon ne Asma (Razi Allah Anha) se haar ariyatun liya to woh gum ho gaya. Rasul Allah (Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam) ne chand sahaba kiram ko us ki talash mein bheja, unhen namaz ka waqt hogaya, unhon ne baghair wuzu ke namaz parhi, jab Nabi (Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasallam) ke pass aaye to is waqea ki shikayat ki. Chunanchi Tayammum ki ayat nazil hui. Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (Razi Allah Anhu) ne kaha: Allah Ta'ala aap ko behtarin jaza de. Allah ki qasam! Aap ki wajah se koi (mushkil) mamla pesh nahin aaya magar Allah ne us mein nikalne ka rasta bana diya aur Musalmanon ke liye us mein barkat ata kardi.
(1029) Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "Avoid what I forbid you, and adhere to what I command you as much as you can. Verily, those before you were ruined because of their excessive questioning and their disagreeing with their Prophets.
(b) The view of 'Umar and Ibn Mas'ud (RA) is that one who cannot find water or dust should not pray. According to them, the only means of purification from Janabah is water; therefore, if one does not find water, he should not pray.

(١٠٢٩) سیدنا ابوہریرہ (رض) کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا : جس چیز سے میں تم کو منع کر دوں، پس اس سے بچو اور جس چیز کا تم کو حکم دوں اپنی طاقت کے مطابق اس کو کرو۔ بیشک تم میں سے پہلے لوگ کثرت سوال اور نبیوں سے اختلاف کرنے کی وجہ سے ہلاک ہوگئے تھے۔
(ب) سیدنا عمر اور ابن مسعود (رض) کا مؤقف ہے کہ جسے پانی اور مٹی نہ ملے وہ نماز نہ پڑھے، ان کے نزدیک جنبی کے لیے طہارت کا ذریعہ صرف پانی ہے، جب کسی کو پانی نہ ملے تو ان کے نزدیک وہ نماز نہ پڑھے۔
(1029) Syedna Abu Huraira (RA) kehte hain ke maine Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko farmate hue suna: Jis cheez se main tum ko mana kar dun, pas us se bacho aur jis cheez ka tum ko hukm dun apni taqat ke mutabiq us ko karo. Beshak tum mein se pehle log kasrat sawal aur nabiyon se ikhtilaf karne ki wajah se halaak ho gaye the.
(b) Syedna Umar aur Ibn Masud (RA) ka mauqif hai ke jise pani aur mitti na mile wo namaz na parhe, un ke nazdeek junubi ke liye taharat ka zariya sirf pani hai, jab kisi ko pani na mile to un ke nazdeek wo namaz na parhe.
Abu Wa'il (RA) narrated that Abu Musa (RA) said to Abdullah bin Masud (RA): "He (the Prophet) would not pray unless he found water." Abdullah (RA) said: "Yes, if I do not find water for a month, I will not pray. If I were to grant them this concession, then when one of them feels cold, he would perform Tayammum and pray." I said: "Where is the statement of Ammar (RA) from Umar (RA)?" He said: "I do not see that Umar (RA) was content with the statement of Ammar (RA)."

(١٠٣٠) سیدنا ابو وائل کہتے ہیں کہ ابو موسیٰ (رض) نے سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود (رض) سے کہا : اگر وہ پانی نہ پائے وہ نماز نہیں پڑھے گا، سیدنا عبداللہ (رض) نے کہا : جی ہاں، اگر میں ایک ماہ بھی پانی نہ پاؤں تو نماز نہیں پڑھوں گا ۔ اگر میں ان کو اس میں رخصت دوں تو جب ان میں سے کوئی ایک سردی محسوس کرے یعنی اس طرح تیمم کرے گا اور نماز پڑھ لے گا ۔ میں نے کہا : سیدنا عمر (رض) سے عمار (رض) کا قول کہاں گیا ؟ انھوں نے کہا : میں نہیں دیکھتا کہ سیدنا عمر (رض) نے عمار (رض) کے قول پر قناعت کی ہو۔
(1030) syedna abu wail kehty hain keh abu moosa (rz) ne syedna abdullah bin masood (rz) se kaha : agar woh pani nah paye woh namaz nahin parhe ga, syedna abdullah (rz) ne kaha : ji han, agar mein ek mah bhi pani nah paaon to namaz nahin parhon ga . agar mein in ko is mein rukhsat doon to jab in mein se koi ek sardi mehsoos kare yani is tarah tayammum kare ga aur namaz parh le ga . mein ne kaha : syedna umar (rz) se umar (rz) ka qol kahan gaya ? unhon ne kaha : mein nahin dekhta keh syedna umar (rz) ne umar (rz) ke qol par qanaat ki ho.
