Chapter on the Virtue of Mosques and Maintaining Them with Prayer and Waiting for Prayer in Them
باب فضل المساجد وفضل عمارتها بالصلاة فيها وانتظار الصلاة فيها
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 4983
(4983) It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The most beloved of places to Allah are the mosques, and the most disliked of places to Allah are the marketplaces.”

(٤٩٨٣) ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تمام جگہوں سے زیادہ محبوب جگہ اللہ کے ہاں مسجدیں ہیں اور تمام جگہوں سے زیادہ ناپسند جگہ اللہ کے ہاں بازار ہیں۔
(4983) Abu Hurairah (RA) se riwayat hai ki Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Tamam jagahon se zyada mahboob jaga Allah ke han masajid hain aur tamam jagahon se zyada napasand jaga Allah ke han bazaar hain.
Muharrib ibn Dathar reported on the authority of Ibn Umar that a man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: Messenger of Allah, which place is the best? He (ﷺ) said: I do not know. He said: Which place is the worst? He (ﷺ) said: I do not know. In the meantime Gabriel came and the Prophet (ﷺ) said to Gabriel: Gabriel, which place is the best? He said: I do not know. He (ﷺ) said: Which is the worst place? He said: I do not know. He (ﷺ) said: Ask your Lord. Gabriel pressed the Prophet (ﷺ) so much that he (ﷺ) was about to faint and (Gabriel) said: I shall not ask about anything. Allah, the Exalted, said to Gabriel: Muhammad (ﷺ) asked you which place was the best, and you said: I do not know. He asked you which place was the worst and you said: I do not know. Tell him that the best places are the mosques, and the worst places are the bazaars.

(٤٩٨٤) محارب بن دثار ابن عمر (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس آیا اور عرض کیا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! کونسی جگہ بہتر ہے ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : میں نہیں جانتا۔ اس نے کہا : کون سی جگہ بری ہے ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : میں نہیں جانتا، اتنے میں جبرائیل آئے تو نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے جبرائیل سے پوچھا : اے جبرائیل ! کون سی جگہ بہتر ہے ؟ اس نے کہا : میں نہیں جانتا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : کون سی جگہ بری ہے ؟ اس نے کہا : میں نہیں جانتا۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : رب تعالیٰ سے سوال کرو، جبرائیل نے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دبایا، قریب تھا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بیہوش ہوجاتے اور کہا : میں کسی چیز کے بارے میں سوال نہ کروں گا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے جبرائیل سے کہا : تجھ سے محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے سوال کیا : کون سی جگہ بہتر ہے ؟ آپ نے کہہ دیا : مجھے نہیں معلوم اور انھوں نے تجھ سے سوال کیا کہ کونسی جگہ بری ہے تو آپ نے کہہ دیا : مجھے معلوم نہیں، آپ ان کو خبر دے دیں کہ بہترین جگہیں مساجد ہیں اور بدترین جگہیں بازار ہیں۔
(4984) Muhaarib bin Dasaar ibn Umar (RA) se naql farmate hain ki ek shakhs Nabi (SAW) ke paas aaya aur arz kiya: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Konsi jaga behtar hai? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Main nahi jaanta. Usne kaha: Konsi jaga buri hai? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Main nahi jaanta, itne mein Jibraeel aaye to Nabi (SAW) ne Jibraeel se poocha: Aye Jibraeel! Konsi jaga behtar hai? Usne kaha: Main nahi jaanta, Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Konsi jaga buri hai? Usne kaha: Main nahi jaanta. Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Rab Ta'ala se sawal karo, Jibraeel ne Nabi (SAW) ko dabaya, qareeb tha ki Aap (SAW) behos hojate aur kaha: Main kisi cheez ke bare mein sawal na karoon ga. Allah Ta'ala ne Jibraeel se kaha: Tujh se Muhammad (SAW) ne sawal kiya: Konsi jaga behtar hai? Aap ne keh diya: Mujhe nahi maloom aur unhon ne tujh se sawal kiya ki konsi jaga buri hai to aap ne keh diya: Mujhe maloom nahi, aap un ko khabar de den ki behtarin jagahen masajid hain aur badtarin jagahen bazaar hain.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let one of you pray only as long as his prayer keeps him from returning to his family."

(٤٩٨٥) ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تم میں سے کوئی اتنی دیر نماز میں رہتا ہے، جتنی دیر نماز اس کو روکے رکھتی ہے کہ وہ اپنے گھر کی طرف واپس پلٹے۔
(4985) Abu Huraira (RA) se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: Tum mein se koi itni dair namaz mein rehta hai, jitni dair namaz usko roke rakhti hai ki woh apne ghar ki taraf wapas palte.
Qurra ibn Khalid said: We waited for Hasan. He was late, then he came. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We waited for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) one night, and it became almost midnight. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard this, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and prayed, then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) delivered a sermon, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The people prayed and went to sleep, and you remained in prayer for as long as you waited for prayer. Hasan said: The people were in goodness for as long as they waited for goodness.

(٤٩٨٦) قرہ بن خالد فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم نے حسن کا انتظار کیا۔ انھوں نے دیر کردی، پھر وہ آئے۔ انس (رض) فرماتے ہیں : ہم نے ایک رات نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کا انتظار کیا تو تقریباً آدھی رات ہوگئی۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو یہ خبر ملی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) آئے اور نماز پڑھائی، پھر خطبہ دیا، آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : لوگوں نے نماز پڑھی اور سو گئے اور تم نماز میں رہے جتنی دیر تم نماز کا انتظار کرتے رہے۔ حسن کہتے ہیں : لوگ بھلائی میں رہے جتنی دیر بھلائی کا انتظار کرتے رہے۔
(4986) Qirah bin Khalid farmate hain ke humne Hasan ka intezar kya. Unhon ne der kardi, phir woh aaye. Anas (RA) farmate hain : humne aik raat Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ka intezar kya to taqreeban aadhi raat hogayi. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko yeh khabar mili to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) aaye aur namaz parhayi, phir khutba diya, aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : logon ne namaz parhayi aur so gaye aur tum namaz mein rahe jitni der tum namaz ka intezar karte rahe. Hasan kahte hain : log bhalayi mein rahe jitni der bhalayi ka intezar karte rahe.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There are seven types of people whom Allah will shade with His shade on the Day when there will be no shade but His: A just ruler, a young man who grew up in the worship of Allah, a man whose heart is attached to the mosque, two men who love each other for Allah's sake, a man who is called by a woman of beauty and position [for illicit relations] but he says, 'I fear Allah', a man who gives charity and hides it so that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given, and a man who remembers Allah in solitude and his eyes well up with tears."

(٤٩٨٧) ابوہریرہ (رض) نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : سات قسم کے لوگوں کو اللہ اپنا سایہ نصیب کرے گا قیامت کے دن جس دن اس کے سائے علاوہ کوئی سایہ نہ ہوگا : انصاف کرنے والا حکمران اور وہ جوان جو اللہ کی عبادت میں اپنی جوانی صرف کرتا ہے اور وہ بندہ جو تنہائی میں اللہ کا ذکر کرتا ہے تو آنکھوں سے آنسو بہہ پڑتے ہیں اور وہ بندہ جس کا دل مسجد سے لگا ہوا ہے اور دو شخص جو اللہ کے لیے ایک دوسرے سے محبت کرتے ہیں اور وہ بندہ جس کو حسب و نسب اور جمال والی عورت برائی کی دعوت دے تو وہ کہتا ہے : میں اللہ سے ڈرتا ہوں اور وہ بندہ جو صدقہ کرتا ہے اور پوشیدہ رکھتا ہے کہ اس کے بائیں ہاتھ کو بھی علم نہیں جو اس کے دائیں نے کیا ہے۔
(4987) Abu Hurairah (Razi Allah Anhu) Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se naql farmate hain ki Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Saat qism ke logon ko Allah apna saya nasib karega qayamat ke din jis din uske saaye alawa koi saya na hoga: Insaf karne wala hakumran aur wo jawan jo Allah ki ibadat mein apni jawani sarf karta hai aur wo banda jo tanhai mein Allah ka zikr karta hai to aankhon se aansu bahte hain aur wo banda jis ka dil masjid se laga hua hai aur do shakhs jo Allah ke liye ek dusre se mohabbat karte hain aur wo banda jisko hasb o nasb aur jamal wali aurat burai ki dawat de to wo kehta hai: Main Allah se darta hun aur wo banda jo sadqah karta hai aur poshida rakhta hai ki uske baayen hath ko bhi ilm nahin jo uske daayen ne kiya hai.
Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you see a person going to the mosque, then testify to his faith. Allah, the Exalted, says: {The mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day.} [At-Tawbah: 18] The mosques of Allah are only visited and maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day.

(٤٩٨٨) ابو سعید خدری (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جب تم کسی کو مسجد کی طرف جاتے دیکھو تو اس کے ایمان کی گواہی دے دو ۔ اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتے ہیں : {إِنَّمَا یَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّہِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّہِ وَالْیَوْمِ الآخِرِ } [التوبۃ : ١٨] اللہ کی مسجدوں کو وہی لوگ آباد کرتے ہیں جن کا اللہ اور آخرت کے دن پر ایمان ہو۔
(4988) Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) farmate hain ki Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya : Jab tum kisi ko masjid ki taraf jate dekho to uske imaan ki gawahi de do. Allah ta'ala farmate hain : {Innama ya'muru masajid Allah man amana billah wal yawm al-akhir} [Al-Tawbah : 18] Allah ki masjidon ko wohi log abad karte hain jin ka Allah aur aakhirat ke din per imaan ho.
(4989) Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The Houses of Allah are inhabited by the people of Allah."
Grade: Da'if
(٤٩٨٩) انس بن مالک (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اللہ کے گھروں کو اللہ والے ہی آباد کرتے ہیں۔
(4989) Anas bin Malik (RA) farmate hain ke Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya : Allah ke gharon ko Allah wale hi abad karte hain.
(4990) It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “For whatever purpose a person comes to the mosque, that will be his reward.”

(٤٩٩٠) ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جس غرض سے انسان مسجد میں آتا ہے وہی اس کا حصہ ہے۔
(4990) Abu Huraira (RA) se riwayat hai keh Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: Jis garaz se insan masjid mein aata hai wohi uska hissa hai.
