Chapter on a Man Praying Alone and Lengthening His Prayer as Much as He Wishes
باب الرجل يصلي لنفسه فيطيل ما شاء
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 5275
(5275) (a) Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When one of you leads the people in prayer, he should shorten it, for amongst them are the sick, the weak and the elderly. But when you pray alone, you can make it as long as you wish.
(b) In the narration of Imam Shafi'i: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: When one of you leads the people in prayer, he should make it light, for amongst them are the sick and the weak. But when he prays by himself, he can make it as long as he wishes.

(٥٢٧٥) (الف) ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جب تم میں سے کوئی لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائے تو تخفیف کرے، کیونکہ ان میں بیمار، کمزور اور بوڑھے ہوتے ہیں اور جب تم خود نماز پڑھو تو جتنی چاہو لمبی کرو۔
(ب) امام شافعی کی روایت میں ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جب تم میں سے کوئی لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائے تو ہلکی پڑھائے کیونکہ ان میں بیمار اور کمزور ہوتے ہیں اور جب وہ خود نماز پڑھے تو جتنی چاہے لمبی کرے۔
(5275) (alif) Abu Hurairah (RA) se riwayat hai ki aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : jab tum mein se koi logon ko namaz parhaiye to takhfeef kare, kyunki un mein bimar, kamzor aur boorhe hote hain aur jab tum khud namaz parho to jitni chaho lambi karo.
(be) Imam Shafai ki riwayat mein hai ki Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : jab tum mein se koi logon ko namaz parhaiye to halki parhaiye kyunki un mein bimar aur kamzor hote hain aur jab wo khud namaz parhe to jitni chahe lambi kare.
(5276) It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When one of you leads the people in prayer, he should shorten it, for among them are the sick, the elderly, the weak and those who have needs.”

(٥٢٧٦) ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جب تم میں سے کوئی لوگوں کی امامت کرو اے تو نماز مختصر پڑھے۔ کیونکہ ان میں بیمار، بوڑھے، کمزور اور چھوٹے ہوتے ہیں۔
Abu Hurairah (RA) se riwayat hai ki aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Jab tum mein se koi logon ki imamat karae to namaz mukhtasar parhe kyonki un mein bimar, budhe, kamzor aur chhote hote hain.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When one of you leads the people in prayer, he should shorten it, for among them are the elderly, the weak, and the sick. When he prays alone, he may lengthen it as he wishes.”

(٥٢٧٧) ابوہریرہ (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جب تم میں سے کوئی لوگوں کی امامت کروائے تو نماز میں اختصار کرے، کیونکہ اس میں بوڑھے، کمزور اور بیمار ہوتے ہیں۔ اگر وہ اکیلا نماز پڑھے تو جتنی چاہے لمبی نماز پڑھے۔
(5277) Abu Hurairah (RA) se riwayat hai ki aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Jab tum mein se koi logon ki imamat karwaye to namaz mein ikhtisaar kare, kyunki us mein budhe, kamzor aur bimar hote hain. Agar wo akela namaz parhe to jitni chahe lambi namaz parhe.
Uthman bin Abi Al-As narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "Lead your people in prayer." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! I feel something in my heart." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Come closer." Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made me sit in front of him and placed his hand on my chest. Then he said: "Turn around." Then he placed his hands on my back between my shoulders. Then he said: "Lead your people in prayer. When you lead your people in prayer, shorten it, for there are among them the elderly, the young, the sick, and the traveler. When one of you prays, let him pray as he wishes.”

(٥٢٧٨) عثمان بن ابی العاص فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مجھے فرمایا : آپ اپنی قوم کی امامت کروائیں۔ میں نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! میں اپنے دل میں کچھ محسوس کرتا ہوں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : قریب ہوجا، پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے مجھے اپنے سامنے بٹھا لیا اور اپنا ہاتھ میرے سینے کے درمیان رکھا۔ پھر فرمایا : رخ بدلو۔ پھر اپنے ہاتھ میری کمر پر دوکندھوں کے درمیان رکھ دیے۔ پھر فرمایا : اپنی قوم کی امامت کرواؤ، جب اپنی قوم کی امام کرو تو اختصار اختیار کرنا، کیونکہ ان میں بوڑھے، چھوٹے، مریض اور حاجت مند ہیں۔ جب تم میں سے کوئی نماز پڑھے تو وہ جیسے چاہے نماز پڑھے۔
5278 Usman bin Abi Al Aas farmate hain ke Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mujhe farmaya: Aap apni qaum ki imamat karwain. Maine kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasul! Main apne dil mein kuch mehsoos karta hun. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Qareeb hoja, phir aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mujhe apne samne bitha liya aur apna hath mere seene ke darmiyan rakha. Phir farmaya: Rukh badlo. Phir apne hath meri kamar par do kandhon ke darmiyan rakh diye. Phir farmaya: Apni qaum ki imamat karao, jab apni qaum ki imam karo to ikhtisar ikhtiyar karna, kyunki un mein buddhe, chhote, mareed aur hajat mand hain. Jab tum mein se koi namaz padhe to woh jaise chahe namaz padhe.
Nafi' bin Sirj said: We served Abu Waqid al-Laythi during the illness from which he died. We heard him saying: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to shorten the prayer when he led the people in it, but he would offer a long prayer when he prayed by himself.

(٥٢٧٩) نافع بن سر جس کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے ابو واقد لیثی کی تیمار داری کی جس مرض میں وہ فوت ہوئے۔ ہم نے ان سے سنا کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) لوگوں کو نماز پڑھانے میں اختصار کرتے اور بذات خود لوگوں سے لمبی نماز پڑھتے۔
