Chapter on Disliking to Recite the Dual Expression for Other Than Fajr Prayer
باب كراهية التثويب في غير أذان الصبح
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 1988
It is narrated on the authority of 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla (that he said in the year 1988): Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was commanded to say "Prayer is better than sleep" in the Fajr (morning) prayer. Apart from that, I have not heard of any command to say "Prayer is better than sleep".

(١٩٨٨) عبد الرحمن بن أبی لیلیٰ سے روایت ہے کہ بلال (رض) کو صبح کی نماز میں الصَّلاَۃُ خَیْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ کہنے کا حکم دیا گیا، اس کے علاوہ میں الصَّلاَۃُ خَیْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ کہنے کا حکم نہیں دیا گیا۔
(1988) abd ur rehman bin abi layla se riwayat hai ki bilal (raz) ko subah ki namaz mein assalatu khairun minan naum kehne ka hukum diya gaya, iske ilawa mein assalatu khairun minan naum kehne ka hukum nahi diya gaya.
(1989) (a) It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered me not to say the Iqamah except for Fajr (in other Adhans).
(b) It is narrated on the authority of Suwayd bin Ghaflah that Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) did not say the Iqamah except for Fajr. He would say in his Adhan, “Hayya ‘alal-falah, as-salatu khayrun minan-nawm (Come to prosperity, prayer is better than sleep).”.

(١٩٨٩) (الف) سیدنا بلال (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ مجھ کو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حکم دیا کہ میں فجر کے علاوہ (دوسری اذان میں) تثویب نہ کروں۔
(ب) سوید بن غفلہ سے روایت ہے کہ سیدنا بلال (رض) فجر کے علاوہ تثویب نہیں کرتے تھے، وہ اپنی اذان میں کہتے تھے : حَیَّ عَلَی الْفَلاَحِ ، الصَّلاَۃُ خَیْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ ۔
(1989) (alif) syedna bilal (rz) se riwayat hai keh mujh ko rasool allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne hukm diya keh main fajar ke alawa (doosri azan mein) tasweeb na karoon.
(be) suwaid bin ghafla se riwayat hai keh syedna bilal (rz) fajar ke alawa tasweeb nahin karte thay, woh apni azan mein kahte thay : hayya alal falah, assalatu khairun minan naum.
It is narrated on the authority of Mujahid that I was with Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). A man offered a prayer called Tasbi' at the time of Zuhr or Asr. Upon this, he (Ibn Umar) said: "Get away from us, for this (prayer) is an innovation."

(١٩٩٠) مجاہد سے روایت ہے کہ میں سیدنا ابن عمر (رض) کے ساتھ تھا، ایک شخص نے ظہر یا عصر میں تثویب کی تو انھوں نے کہا : تو ہمارے پاس سے نکل جا، یہ تو بدعت ہے۔
(1990) Mujahid se riwayat hai ki main Sayyidna Ibn Umar (RA) ke sath tha, ek shakhs ne Zuhr ya Asr mein tasweeb ki to unhon ne kaha : Tu hamare pass se nikal ja, yeh to bidat hai.
