Chapter on Placing the Hands on the Chest During Prayer as a Recommended Act
باب وضع اليدين على الصدر في الصلاة من السنة
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 2335
Sayyidina Wa'il ibn Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went towards the mosque and entered the mihrab. Then he said the takbir and raised his hands, then placed his right hand over his left on his chest.

(٢٣٣٥) سیدنا وائل بن حجر (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ میں رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) مسجد کو روانہ ہوئے اور محراب میں داخل ہوگئے، پھر تکبیر کہتے ہوئے اپنے ہاتھ بھی بلند کیے، پھر اپنے دائیں ہاتھ کو بائیں ہاتھ پر سینے کے اوپر رکھا۔
(2335) Saidna Wael bin Hujr (RA) se riwayat hai ki main Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki khidmat mein hazir hua. Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) masjid ko rawana huye aur mehrab mein dakhil hogaye, phir takbeer kehte huye apne hath bhi buland kiye, phir apne dayen hath ko baen hath per seene ke upar rakha.
(2336) It is narrated on the authority of Wa'il (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) place his right hand over his left hand, then place both of them on his chest.

(٢٣٣٦) حضرت وائل (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ انھوں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا کہ آپ نے اپنے دائیں ہاتھ کو اپنے بائیں ہاتھ پر رکھا، پھر ان دونوں کو اپنے سینے پر رکھ لیا۔
Hazrat Wa'il (RA) se riwayat hai ki unhon ne Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko dekha ki aap ne apne daayen hath ko apne baayen hath par rakha, phir in donon ko apne seene par rakh liya.
Aqabah bin Sahban narrated that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said about the verse "{فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّکَ وَانْحَرْ } [Al-Kauthar: 2]" - "So pray to your Lord and sacrifice" - that it means to place the right hand over the left, upon the chest.

(٢٣٣٧) عقبہ بن صہبان سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت علی (رض) نے { فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّکَ وَانْحَرْ } [الکوثر : ٢] ” پس اپنے رب کے لیے نماز پڑھ اور قربانی کر “ کے بارے میں فرمایا کہ اس کا معنی دائیں ہاتھ کو بائیں ہاتھ کے وسط پر رکھ کر ان دونوں کو سینے پر رکھنا ہے۔
Aqba bin Sehban se riwayat hai keh Hazrat Ali (RA) ne { Fasalli Lirabbika Wanhar } [Al-Kauser : 2] ” Pas apne Rab ke liye Namaz parh aur Qurbani kar “ ke bare mein farmaya keh iska mani daen hath ko baen hath ke wasat par rakh kar in donon ko seene par rakhna hai.
Asim transmits to us from a man who narrates from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a similar manner.

(٢٣٣٨) عاصم احول ایک شخص سے روایت کرتے ہیں اور وہ انس (رض) سے نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے اسی طرح روایت کرتے ہیں۔
2338 Asim Ahwal ek shakhs se riwayat karte hain aur wo Anas (RA) se Nabi (SAWW) se isi tarah riwayat karte hain.
Abu Juha reported: Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the meaning of Allah's saying "So pray to your Lord and sacrifice" (Al-Kawthar 108:2) is placing the right hand over the left hand on the chest during prayer.

(٢٣٣٩) ابو جوزا سے روایت ہے کہ سیدنا ابن عباس (رض) اللہ کے اس قول فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّکَ وَانْحَرْ ۔ (الکوثر : ٣) کے متعلق فرماتے ہیں کہ اس سے مراد نماز میں دائیں ہاتھ کو بائیں ہاتھ پر سینے پر رکھنا ہے۔
2339 Abu Jauza se riwayat hai keh Sayyidna Ibn Abbas (RA) Allah ke is qaul fasalli lirabbika wanhar (Al-Kausar: 3) ke mutaliq farmate hain keh is se murad namaz mein daayen hath ko baayen hath par seene par rakhna hai.
Abu Zubair narrated that 'Ata ordered me to ask Sa'id (bin Jubair) where the hands should be in prayer, above the navel or below the navel? So, I asked him and he said: "Above the navel."

(٢٣٤٠) (ا) ابوزبیر سے روایت ہے کہ مجھے عطا نے حکم دیا کہ میں سعید (بن جبیر) سے پوچھوں کہ نماز میں ہاتھ کہاں ہونے چاہیں، ناف کے اوپر یا ناف سے نیچے ؟ میں نے ان سے سوال کیا تو انھوں نے فرمایا : ناف کے اوپر ۔
(2340) (a) Abuzubair se riwayat hai ki mujhe Ata ne hukm diya ki main Saeed (bin Jubair) se poochon ki namaz mein hath kahan hone chahiyen, naaf ke upar ya naaf se neeche? Main ne un se sawal kiya to unhon ne farmaya: naaf ke upar.
Abu Juhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that it is Sunnah to place one hand over the other below the navel during prayer.

(٢٣٤١) ابو جحیفہ (رض) حضرت علی (رض) سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ نماز میں ہتھیلی پر ہتھیلی ناف کے نیچے رکھنا سنت ہے۔
(2341) Abu Juhayfah (RA) Hazrat Ali (RA) se riwayat karte hain ki namaz mein hatheli par hatheli naf ke neeche rakhna sunnat hai.
It is narrated from Sayyidina Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Sunnah regarding prayer is to place the right hand over the left hand below the navel.

(٢٣٤٢) سیدنا علی (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ نماز میں سنت یہ ہے کہ دائیں ہاتھ کو بائیں ہاتھ پر ناف کے نیچے رکھا جائے۔
(2342) Syedna Ali (RA) se riwayat hai keh namaz mein sunnat yeh hai keh daayen hath ko baayen hath per naf ke neeche rakha jaye.
