Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated regarding the reciters (of the Quran) and their tragic martyrdom: I heard Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that whenever he would pray the morning prayer, he would raise his hands and supplicate against them (the infidel tribes), meaning those people who had martyred the reciters from among the companions (may Allah be pleased with them).

(٣١٤٥) حضرت انس بن مالک (رض) سے قراء اور ان کی اندوہناک شہادت کے بارے میں منقول ہے کہ مجھے حضرت انس (رض) نے فرمایا : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو دیکھا کہ جب بھی صبح کی نماز ادا کرتے تو اپنے ہاتھ اٹھا کر ان (قبائل کفار) پر بددعا کرتے یعنی ان لوگوں پر جنہوں نے قراء صحابہ (رض) کو شہید کیا تھا۔ “
(3145) Hazrat Anas bin Malik (RA) se Quraa aur un ki andohnak shahadat ke baare mein manqol hai keh mujhe Hazrat Anas (RA) ne farmaya : mein ne Rasool Allah (SAW) ko dekha keh jab bhi subah ki namaz ada karte to apne hath utha kar un (qabail kuffar) par baddua karte yani un logon par jinhon ne Quraa Sahaba (RA) ko shaheed kiya tha.
(3146) (a) Narrated Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, is Shy and Generous. When a servant raises his hands to Him, He is shy to return them empty.
(b) This hadith has been narrated in the same way (marfu') by Ja'far ibn Maymun. Sulaiman Taymi narrated it in two ways, one being mawquf from Abu Uthman. This hadith is specific to supplication (dua). A large number of scholars of the companions raised their hands in prayer (qunut). Furthermore, we also have the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) on this.

(٣١٤٦) (ا) سیدنا سلمان فارسی (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : یقیناً اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ شرم وحیا والا اور سخی ہے۔ جب بندہ اس کے سامنے ہاتھ پھیلاتا ہے تو اسے انھیں خالی لوٹاتے ہوئے حیا آتی ہے۔
(ب) اس حدیث کو جعفر بن میمون نے اسی طرح مرفوع بیان کیا ہے اور سلیمان تیمی نے دو روایتوں میں سے ایک کو ابوعثمان سے موقوف بیان کیا ہے۔ یہ حدیث صرف دعا کے بارے میں ہے۔ صحابہ کی کثیر تعداد نے قنوت میں اپنے ہاتھ اٹھائے ہیں اور اس کے علاوہ ہمارے پاس حضرت انس بن مالک (رض) کی حدیث بھی ہے۔
(3146) (a) Sayyidina Salman Farsi (RA) se riwayat hai ki aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya : Yaqeenan Allah tabaraka wa ta'ala sharm o haya wala aur sakhi hai. Jab banda uske samne hath phelata hai to use unhen khali lautate hue haya aati hai.
(b) Is hadees ko Ja'far bin Maimun ne isi tarah marfu bayan kiya hai aur Sulaiman Taimi ne do riwayaton mein se ek ko Abu Usman se mauqoof bayan kiya hai. Yeh hadees sirf dua ke baare mein hai. Sahaba ki kasir tadad ne qanoot mein apne hath uthaye hain aur iske ilawa humare paas Hazrat Anas bin Malik (RA) ki hadees bhi hai.
Abu 'Uthman An-Nahdi reported: We used to observe prayer behind 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and he would lead the people in prayer. He (the narrator) said: He would then supplicate in the prayer after bowing, and would raise his hands so high that the whiteness of his armpits became visible, and he would keep his arms apart from each other.

(٣١٤٨) ابوعثمان نہدی بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم نماز پڑھنے آیا کرتے تھے اور سیدنا عمر (رض) لوگوں کو امامت کروا رہے ہوتے ۔ پھر رکوع کے بعد قنوت پڑھتے تھے، وہ اپنے ہاتھوں کو اتنا بلند کرتے کہ ان کی ہتھیلیاں نظر آنے لگتیں اور وہ اپنے بازؤ وں کو پھیلا کر رکھتے۔
3148 Abu Usman Nahdi bayan karte hain ki hum namaz parhne aaya karte thay aur Sayyidna Umar (RA) logon ko imamat karwa rahe hote. Phir ruku ke bad qunut parhte thay, woh apne hathon ko itna buland karte ki un ki hatheliyan nazar aane lagti aur woh apne bazuon ko phela kar rakhte.
Abu 'Uthman reported: I offered the morning (Fajr) prayer behind 'Umar (Ibn al-Khattab). He recited eighty verses from Surah al-Baqarah. Then he performed qunut (supplication) after bowing (in the second rak'ah), raising his hands until I saw the whiteness of his armpits. He supplicated in a loud voice, so much so that a person on the other side of the wall could hear him.

(٣١٤٩) ابوعثمان بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت عمر (رض) کے پیچھے صبح کی نماز پڑھی تو انھوں نے سورة بقرہ کی اَسی آیات تلاوت کیں اور رکوع کے بعد قنوت کی اور اپنے ہاتھ اٹھائے حتیٰ کہ میں نے آپ (رض) کی بغلوں کی سفیدی دیکھی، آپ اونچی آواز سے دعا کر رہے تھے حتیٰ کہ دیوار کے اس طرف آدمی سن لیتا تھا۔
3149 Abu Usman bayan karte hain ke maine Hazrat Umar (RA) ke peeche subah ki namaz parhi to unhon ne Surah Baqarah ki assi ayaat tilawat kin aur rukuh ke baad qunoot ki aur apne hath uthaye hatta ke maine aap (RA) ki baghlon ki safedi dekhi, aap unchi aawaz se dua kar rahe the hatta ke deewar ke us taraf aadmi sun leta tha.
(3150) (a) Abu Rafi narrated that I prayed behind Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). He performed Qunut after bowing (Ruku) and raised his hands while supplicating aloud.
(b) Qatadah narrated that Hasan Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) used to do the same.
(c) This has also been narrated from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) but its chain of narration is weak. Qunut in Witr prayer has also been narrated from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them both).
(d) Imam Bayhaqi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Regarding wiping the face with hands after finishing the supplication, I haven't memorized this from any of the predecessors in the Qunut supplication, although it has been narrated from some of them in supplications outside of prayer. A weak Hadith has also been narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in this regard and this is also the practice of some people outside of prayer. As for wiping the face with hands within prayer, this action is not proven by any authentic Hadith, nor from any narration, and it is better to suffice on what the predecessors did, which is to only raise hands during supplication. And Allah grants success.

(٣١٥٠) (ا) ابورافع بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے حضرت عمر بن خطاب (رض) کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی تو انھوں نے رکوع کے بعد قنوت پڑھی اور اپنے ہاتھ اٹھا کر بلند آواز سے دعا کی۔
(ب) قتادہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ حسن بصری (رح) بھی اس طرح کیا کرتے تھے۔
(ج) حضرت علی (رض) سے بھی یہی ہے مگر وہ سند ضعیف ہے اور قنوت وتر کے بارے میں سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود اور سیدنا ابوہریرہ (رض) سے بھی منقول ہے۔
(د) امام بیہقی (رح) فرماتے ہیں : دعا سے فارغ ہوتے وقت جو چہرے پر ہاتھ پھیرنے کا مسئلہ ہے یہ دعائے قنوت میں میں نے سلف سے کسی سے بھی یاد نہیں کیا۔ اگرچہ یہ بعض حضر ات سے نماز کے علاوہ دعا میں روایت بھی کیا گیا ہے۔ اس ضمن میں نبی (علیہ السلام) سے بھی ایک ضعیف حدیث منقول ہے اور یہ بعض لوگوں کا نماز سے باہر کا عمل بھی ہے۔ رہا نماز کے اندر منہ پر ہاتھ پھیرنا تو یہ عمل کسی صحیح حدیث سے ثابت ہے اور نہ کسی اثر اور قیاس سے زیادہ بہتر ہے یہ ہے کہ صرف اسی پر اکتفا کرلیا جائے جو سلف نے کیا ہے یعنی صرف دعا میں ہاتھ اٹھائے جائیں۔ وباللہ التوفیق
(3150) (a) Aburafi bayan karte hain ke maine Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (RA) ke peeche namaz parhi to unhon ne rukuh ke baad qunut parhi aur apne hath utha kar buland aawaz se dua ki.
(b) Qatada bayan karte hain ke Hasan Basri (RA) bhi is tarah kiya karte the.
(c) Hazrat Ali (RA) se bhi yahi hai magar woh sanad zaeef hai aur qunut witr ke bare mein Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Masud aur Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (RA) se bhi manqol hai.
(d) Imam Bayhaqi (RA) farmate hain : Dua se farigh hote waqt jo chehre par hath phairne ka masla hai yeh dua e qunut mein maine Salaf se kisi se bhi yaad nahin kiya. Agarcheh yeh baaz hazrat se namaz ke ilawa dua mein riwayat bhi kiya gaya hai. Is zimn mein Nabi (SAW) se bhi ek zaeef hadees manqol hai aur yeh baaz logon ka namaz se bahar ka amal bhi hai. Raha namaz ke andar munh par hath phairna to yeh amal kisi sahih hadees se sabit hai aur na kisi asar aur qayas se zyada behtar hai yeh hai ke sirf isi par iqtifa kar liya jaye jo Salaf ne kiya hai yani sirf dua mein hath uthaye jayen. Wabillahi tawfeeq.
(3151) It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Supplicate to Allah, the Exalted, with your palms spread open and do not supplicate with the back of your hands facing upwards. When you finish your supplication, wipe your face with your hands."
(b) Imam Abu Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "This hadith has been narrated from Muhammad bin Ka'b al-Qurazi through different chains of narration and all of them are weak. This chain of narration is better, but it also has weakness."

(٣١٥١) سیدنا عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : اللہ تعالیٰ سے ہاتھ سیدھے پھیلا کر دعا کرو اور ہاتھوں کی پشت اوپر کر کے دعا نہ کرو۔ جب دعا سے فارغ ہوجاؤ تو اپنے ہاتھ منہ پر پھیر لو۔
(ب) امام ابوداؤد (رح) فرماتے ہیں : یہ حدیث محمد بن کعب قرظی سے مختلف واسطوں سے منقول ہے اور وہ سب ضعیف ہیں۔ یہ سند بہتر ہے لیکن اس میں بھی ضعف ہے۔
3151 Saidna Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) se riwayat hai ki Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Allah Ta'ala se hath seedhe phela kar dua karo aur hathon ki pusht upar kar ke dua na karo. Jab dua se farigh ho jao to apne hath munh par phair lo.
(b) Imam Abu Dawud (RH) farmate hain: Yeh hadees Muhammad bin Ka'b Qarzi se mukhtalif wasiton se manqool hai aur wo sab zaeef hain. Yeh sanad behtar hai lekin is mein bhi zaeef hai.
(3152) Ali al-Bashani said: I asked Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak (may Allah have mercy on him) about the man who wipes his face with his hands while supplicating. He said: I do not have proof for that. Ali said: I do not think he said such a thing. You (may Allah have mercy on him) yourself would raise your hands in the Witr prayer when supplicating after bowing.

(٣١٥٢) علی باشانی فرماتے ہیں : میں نے عبداللہ بن مبارک (رح) سے اس شخص کے بارے میں دریافت کیا جو دعا کرتے وقت اپنے چہرے پر ہاتھ پھیرتا ہے، انھوں نے فرمایا : میرے پاس اس کا ثبوت نہیں ہے۔ علی کہتے ہیں : میرا خیال نہیں کہ انھوں نے اس طرح فرمایا ہو۔ آپ (رح) تو خود وتروں میں رکوع کے بعد قنوت پڑھتے تھے اور اپنے ہاتھ بھی اٹھاتے تھے۔ “
