Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding this verse that if a person marries without specifying the dowry and then divorces his wife before consummation, Allah has commanded that he should benefit her according to his capacity. If he is wealthy, he should give her a servant or its equivalent. If he is poor, then he should give her three pieces of cloth or their equivalent.

(١٤٤٠٥) حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) اس آیت کے بارے میں فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ شخص جو حق مہر مقرر کیے بغیر شادی کرتا ہے، پھر مجامعت سے پہلے طلاق دے دیتا ہے تو اللہ نے اس کی تنگی اور آسانی کے مطابق فائدہ دینے کا حکم فرمایا ہے۔ اگر مالدار ہے تو خادم یا اس کے برابر فائدہ دے۔ اگر تنگدست ہے تو پھر تین کپڑے یا اس کے برابر دے۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) is aayat ke bare mein farmate hain ke woh shakhs jo haq mehr muqarrar kiye baghair shaadi karta hai, phir mujamaat se pehle talaq de deta hai to Allah ne uski tangi aur aasani ke mutabiq faidah dene ka hukum farmaya hai. Agar maldar hai to khadim ya uske barabar faidah de. Agar tangdasth hai to phir teen kapde ya uske barabar de.
Nafi' said: A man came to Ibn 'Umar and said: "I have divorced my wife." He said: "Give her such and such money and clothes." That was enough for us, or thirty dirhams which is the same. I said to Nafi': "What kind of man was he?" He said: "He was a man of average means."
(b) It was narrated from Nafi' from Ibn 'Umar that the least that should be given as a benefit (Mut'ah) is thirty dirhams.

(١٤٤٠٦) نافع فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص ابن عمر (رض) کے پاس آیا، اس نے کہا کہ میں نے اپنی بیوی کو جدا کردیا ہے تو ابن عمر (رض) فرمانے لگے : اتنی رقم اور اتنے کپڑے دو ۔ ہمیں اتنا کافی ہے یا اس کے برابر تیس درہم۔ میں نے نافع سے کہا : وہ آدمی کیسا تھا۔ فرماتے ہیں : وہ درمیانے درجے کا آدمی تھا۔
(ب) دوسری سند سے نافع ابن عمر (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ سب سے کم فائدہ دینا ٣٠ درہم ہیں۔
14406 Nafe farmate hain ki aik shakhs Ibn Umar (RA) ke paas aaya, usne kaha ki maine apni biwi ko juda kar diya hai to Ibn Umar (RA) farmane lage: itni raqam aur itne kapde do. Hamein itna kaafi hai ya uske barabar tees darham. Maine Nafe se kaha: woh aadmi kaisa tha. Farmate hain: woh darmiyaane darje ka aadmi tha.
(b) Dusri sanad se Nafe Ibn Umar (RA) se naql farmate hain ki sab se kam faidah dena 30 darham hain.
Sa'd b. Ibrahim reported on the authority of his father that 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf divorced his wife and then derived benefit (through cohabitation) from a black slave-girl. Abu 'Ubaid said: What is meant by deriving benefit is after the expiry of the period of ('iddah). The Arabs call it by the name of nikah al-tahtim.

(١٤٤٠٧) سعد بن ابراہیم اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ عبدالرحمن بن عوف نے اپنی بیوی کو طلاق دے کر ایک سیاہ لونڈی سے فائدہ دیا، یعنی ابوعبید کہتے ہیں کہ طلاق کے بعد فائدہ دینا۔ عرب اس کا نام متعہ التحمیم رکھتے ہیں۔
Sad bin Ibrahim apne walid se naql farmate hain ki Abdur Rahman bin Auf ne apni biwi ko talaq de kar ek siyah laundi se faidah diya, yani Abu Obaid kahte hain ki talaq ke bad faidah dena. Arab iska naam muta'ah al-tahmeem rakhte hain.
Ibn Sirin said that when Hasan ibn Ali divorced his wife, he benefited her with 10,000 dirhams. Ibn Sirin said that the woman said, "This is very little compared to the separation from the beloved." When Hasan ibn Ali found out, he took her back.

(١٤٤٠٨) ابن سیرین فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت حسن بن علی نے اپنی بیوی کو طلاق دی تو ١٠ ہزار درہم سے فائدہ پہنچایا، ابن سیرین کہتے ہیں کہ اس عورت نے کہا : جس محبوب سے جدائی ہوئی اس کے مقابلہ میں یہ بہت ہی کم ہے، جب حضرت حسن بن علی کو پتہ چلا تو انھوں نے رجوع کرلیا۔
Ibn e Seerin farmate hain ke Hazrat Hassan bin Ali ne apni biwi ko talaq di to 10 hazaar dirham se faida pohanchaya, Ibn e Seerin kehte hain ke us aurat ne kaha: Jis mehboob se judai hui us ke muqabla mein yeh bohat hi kam hai, jab Hazrat Hassan bin Ali ko pata chala to unhon ne ruju kar liya.
Hasan ibn Sa'd narrates from his father that Hasan ibn Ali, after divorcing his wife, benefited her with 20,000 and some honey. The woman said: "Compared to the beloved who is separating, this wealth is very little."

(١٤٤٠٩) حسن بن سعد اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت حسن بن علی نے اپنی بیوی کو طلاق کے بعد ٢٠ ہزار اور مسک شہد کی سے فائدہ پہنچایا، تو عورت نے کہا : جدا ہونے والے حبیب کے مقابلہ میں یہ مال بہت کم ہے۔
Hasan bin Saad apne walid se naql farmate hain ki Hazrat Hasan bin Ali ne apni biwi ko talaq ke baad 20 hazaar aur misk shahad ki se faida pahuchaya, to aurat ne kaha : juda hone wale habib ke muqabla mein yeh maal bahut kam hai.
