Imam Shafi'i (may God have mercy on him) said that Umar (may God be pleased with him) forbade taking the knife to the medulla oblongata at the time of slaughter because it makes the soul leave without difficulty. Imam Shafi'i (may God have mercy on him) said: "Nakhs" is to turn the neck from the slaughtered place after slaughtering the goat so that its movement ends quickly. He (may God have mercy on him) said: Doing so does not make it forbidden, but it will be considered part of the slaughter.

(١٩١٣٤) امام شافعی (رح) فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت عمر (رض) نے ذبح کرتے وقت چھری کو حرام مغز تک لے جانے سے منع فرمایا کہ اس طرح جان بغیر دشواری کے نکل جاتی ہے۔ امام شافعی (رح) فرماتے ہیں : نخع یہ ہوتا ہے کہ بکری کو ذبح کرنے کے بعد ذبح شدہ جگہ سے گردن کو موڑ دیا جائے، تاکہ اس کی حرکت جلد ختم ہوجائے۔ فرماتے ہیں : اس طرح کرنے سے حرام نہیں ہوجاتا بلکہ اس کو ذبح کے اندر شمار کیا جائے گا۔
(19134) Imam Shafi (rh) farmate hain keh Hazrat Umar (rz) ne zubah karte waqt churi ko haram maghz tak le jane se mana farmaya keh is tarah jaan baghair dushwari ke nikal jati hai. Imam Shafi (rh) farmate hain : nakha yeh hota hai keh bakri ko zubah karne ke baad zubah shuda jagah se gardan ko mor diya jaye, takkeh us ki harkat jald khatam ho jaye. Farmate hain : is tarah karne se haram nahi ho jata balkeh is ko zubah ke andar shumar kiya jaye ga.
Ma'rur al-Kalbi reported from 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he forbade slaughtering a horse. Abu 'Ubayd said that a horse is slaughtered in such a manner that the knife reaches the bone at the bottom of its neck, that is, the bone that is connected to the hump. However, this is forbidden during slaughter, and breaking the neck of a slaughtered animal before it has cooled down is also forbidden, as it is clear from the hadith that the soul should be taken out quickly without difficulty.

(١٩١٣٥) معرورکلبی حضرت عمر (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ انھوں نے گھوڑا ذبح کرنے سے منع فرمایا۔ ابو عبید کہتے ہیں کہ گھوڑے کو اس انداز سے ذبح کیا جائے کہ اس کی گردن کے نیچے والی ہڈی تک چھری پہنچ جائے، یعنی وہ ہڈی جو گدی کے ساتھ ملی ہوئی ہے۔ حالانکہ ذبح کرتے وقت اس سے منع کیا گیا ہے اور ذبح شدہ جانور کے گردن کو ٹھنڈا ہونے سے پہلے توڑنا بھی منع ہے جیسا کہ حدیث میں واضح ہے کہ جان کو بغیر مشقت کے جلدی نکال دیا جائے۔
(19135) Maroof Kalbi Hazrat Umar (RA) se naqal farmate hain ke unhon ne ghora zibah karne se mana farmaya. Abu Ubaid kahte hain ke ghore ko is andaz se zibah kiya jaye ke us ki gardan ke neeche wali haddi tak chhuri pahunch jaye, yani woh haddi jo gaddi ke sath mili hui hai. Halanki zibah karte waqt is se mana kiya gaya hai aur zibah shuda janwar ke gardan ko thanda hone se pehle torna bhi mana hai jaisa ke hadees mein wazeh hai ke jaan ko baghair mashaqqat ke jaldi nikal diya jaye.
(19136) Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prohibited breaking the neck of an animal before slaughtering it.

(١٩١٣٦) حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے ذبح شدہ جانور کی موت سے پہلے گردن توڑنے سے منع کیا ہے۔
(19136) Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) farmate hain keh Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne zubah shuda janwar ki maut se pehle gardan todne se mana kya hai.
