Ata' bin Abi Rabah narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Mukatab (a slave who has made a contract with his master to purchase his freedom) paid 900, but he was unable to pay 100 Dinars, so he became a slave again.

(٢١٧٥٢) عطاء بن ابی رباح حضرت ابن عمر (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک مکاتب ٩٠٠ تو ادا کر دے لیکن ایک سو دینار دینے سے عاجز آگیا تو وہ دوبارہ غلام ہوگیا۔
Ata bin Abi Rabah Hazrat Ibn Umar (RA) se naqal farmate hain ke ek katib 900 to ada kar de lekin ek sau dinar dene se aajiz aagaya to woh dobara ghulam hogaya.
Nafi' ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: He had a slave who was unable to pay his ransom. Nafi' took whatever he could from him and then freed him, making him his slave again.

(٢١٧٥٣) نافع ابن عمر (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ ان کا ایک غلام تھا۔ وہ اپنی کتابت ادا کرنے سے قاصر ہوگیا، جو لے لیا سو لے لیا اس کو دوبارہ غلام بنا لیا۔
21753 Nafe ibn Umar (RA) se naql farmate hain ke un ka aik ghulam tha wo apni kitabat ada karne se qasir hogaya jo le liya so le liya us ko dobara ghulam bana liya
Nafi' reports that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had a slave who was a scribe. He had a contract of 30,000 (to purchase his freedom). Then he came and said: "I am unable (to pay)." He ('Abdullah) said: "Then finish your Kitabat." He said: "I am unable, you yourself erase it." Nafi' said: "I signaled to him to erase it." The slave was desirous of freedom. The slave erased it. He had one or two sons. Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Separate my slave-girl" meaning his wife. So Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) then freed his son after that.

(٢١٧٥٤) نافع فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) کا ایک مکاتب غلام تھا۔ اس کی کتابت ٣٠ ہزار تھی۔ پھر اس نے آکر کہا : میں عاجز آگیا ہوں۔ فرمایا : تب اپنی کتابت ختم کردو۔ وہ کہنے لگا : میں عاجز آگیا ہوں، آپ خود ہی اس کو مٹا ڈالیں۔ نافع کہتے ہیں : میں نے اس کو اشارہ کیا کہ مٹا دو ۔ وہ غلام آزادی کا لالچی تھا۔ غلام نے مٹا دیا۔ اس کے ایک یا دو بیٹے تھے۔ ابن عمر (رض) فرماتے ہیں : میری لونڈی کو جدا کرلو تو ابن عمر (رض) نے اس کے بعد اس کے بیٹے کو آزاد کردیا۔
21754 Nafi farmate hain ki Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (RA) ka aik muqatib ghulam tha. Uski kitabat 30 hazaar thi. Phir usne aakar kaha: main aajiz aagya hun. Farmaya: tab apni kitabat khatam kardo. Woh kehne laga: main aajiz aagya hun, aap khud hi isko mita dalain. Nafi kehte hain: maine usko ishara kiya ki mita do. Woh ghulam aazadi ka lalchi tha. Ghulam ne mita diya. Uske aik ya do bete thay. Ibn Umar (RA) farmate hain: meri laundi ko juda karlo to Ibn Umar (RA) ne uske baad uske bete ko aazaad kardiya.
Nafi' reported from Ibn 'Umar that he had drawn up a deed of emancipation for his slave, who also had a child and an Umm Walad. He came to Ibn 'Umar and said: I am unable (to fulfill the terms of the deed) so take back your document of emancipation. Ibn 'Umar said: I will not accept it from you unless you bring them (the child and the Umm Walad). When he brought them, he put them back into slavery. He set them free one day or three days later.

(٢١٧٥٥) نافع ابن عمر (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ انھوں نے اپنے غلام سے مکاتبت کی۔ اس کا بچہ اور ام ولد بھی موجود تھی۔ وہ ابن عمر (رض) کے پاس آیا اور کہنے لگا : میں عاجز آچکا ، اپنیکتابت واپس لے لو تو ابن عمر (رض) نے فرمایا : میں تجھ سے قبول نہ کروں گا جب تک تو ان کو لے کر نہ آئے گا۔ جب وہ ان کو لے کر آیا، تو انھوں نے ان کو غلامی میں واپس کردیا۔ اس کے ایک یا تین دن کے بعد ان کو آزاد کردیا۔
21755 Nafi ibn Umar (RA) se naql farmate hain ki unhon ne apne ghulam se mukatabat ki is ka bachcha aur umm walad bhi mojood thi woh Ibn Umar (RA) ke pas aya aur kahne laga main aajiz agaya apni kitabat wapas le lo to Ibn Umar (RA) ne farmaya main tujh se qubool nah karunga jab tak tu in ko lekar nah ayega jab woh in ko lekar aya to unhon ne in ko ghulami mein wapas kar diya is ke ek ya teen din ke baad un ko azad kar diya
Umar bin Muhammad bin Zaid bin Abdullah bin Umar narrates from his father that Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) made a contract of emancipation with one of his slaves for 40,000. His name was Sharaf. He went to Kufa and worked with donkeys and earned 15,000. Then a man came to him and said, "You are foolish! Abdullah bin Umar buys slaves and sets them free. You have put yourself in trouble. Go to him and say, 'I have become helpless.'" He brought a written document with him and said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! I have become helpless. This is the written agreement, erase it." So Abdullah bin Umar said, "If you want, then erase it. I will not erase it." He erased it, and Ibn Umar's eyes filled with tears. He said, "Go, you are free." He said, "May Allah grant you goodness. Show kindness to my sons as well." He said, "They are both free." He said, "And the mother of my children too." He said, "She is also free." He set all five of them free while sitting in one place.

(٢١٧٥٦) عمر بن محمد بن زید بن عبداللہ بن عمر اپنے والد سے نقل فرماتے ہیں کہ عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) نے اپنے ایک غلام سے ٤٠ ہزار میں مکاتبت کی۔ اس کا نام شرف تھا۔ وہ کوفہ گیا گدھوں پر کام کرتا تھا تو ١٥ ہزار لے کردیے۔ پھر ایک انسان آیا اس نے کہا : آپ پاگل ہیں کہ عبداللہ بن عمر غلام خرید کر آزاد کرتے ہیں۔ تو نے اپنے آپ کو عذاب میں مبتلا کیا ہوا ہے، ان کے پاس جاؤ اور جا کر کہنا، میں عاجز آگیا ہوں، وہ اپنے ساتھ تحریر بھی لے کر آیا، اس نے کہا : اے ابوعبدالرحمن ! میں عاجز آگیا ہوں یہ تحریر ہے ختم کر دو تو یعنی عبداللہ بن عمر کہنے لگے : اگر چاہو تو مٹا دو ، میں نہ مٹاؤں گا، اس نے مٹا دیا تو ابن عمر کی آنکھیں آنسو سے بھر آئیں۔ فرمانے لگے : جاؤ تم آزاد ہو۔ اس نے کہا : اللہ آپ کو بھلائی دے میرے بیٹوں پر بھی احسان فرمائیں، فرمایا : وہ دونوں بھی آزاد ہیں۔ اس نے کہا : میرے بچوں کی والدہ کو بھی۔ فرمایا : وہ بھی آزاد ہے۔ ایک جگہ بیٹھے ہی ان پانچوں کو آزاد کردیا۔
(21756) Umar bin Muhammad bin Zaid bin Abdullah bin Umar apne walid se naql farmate hain ke Abdullah bin Umar (RA) ne apne ek ghulam se 40 hazar mein mukatabat ki. Uska naam Sharaf tha. Woh Kufa gaya gadhon par kaam karta tha to 15 hazar le liye. Phir ek insan aaya usne kaha: Aap pagal hain ke Abdullah bin Umar ghulam kharid kar azad karte hain. Tune apne aap ko azab mein mubtala kiya hua hai, unke pass jao aur ja kar kehna, mein aajiz aagaya hun, woh apne sath tahrir bhi le kar aaya, usne kaha: Ae Abu Abdullah! mein aajiz aagaya hun yeh tahrir hai khatam kar do to yani Abdullah bin Umar kehne lage: Agar chaho to mita do, mein na mitaonga, usne mita diya to Ibn Umar ki aankhein aansu se bhar aayin. Farmane lage: Jao tum azad ho. Usne kaha: Allah aap ko bhalayi de mere beton par bhi ehsaan farmayen, farmaya: Woh dono bhi azad hain. Usne kaha: Mere bachchon ki walida ko bhi. Farmaya: Woh bhi azad hai. Ek jaga baithe hi in panchon ko azad kar diya.
Isaac, the slave of Abdullah bin Umar, narrates that his father purchased his indenture from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) for 30,000. When he became incapable of paying, it was returned to him as slavery. He had paid half or nearly half of the amount. He requested Abdullah to free his children who were born during his indenture. Abdullah freed him along with his children and also returned 1,500 Dirhams.

(٢١٧٥٧) اسحق جو عبداللہ بن عمر کے غلام تھے فرماتے ہیں کہ ان کے والدنے عبداللہ بن عمر (رض) سے ٣٠ ہزار میں کاتبت کرلی۔ وہ عاجز آگیا تو اس کو غلامی میں لوٹا دیا۔ اس نے نصف یا تقریباً نصف ادا کردی تھی۔ اس نے مطالبہ کردیا کہ میرے بچوں کو آزاد کردیں جو ان کی مکاتبت کے درمیان پیدا ہوئے، اس کو اور اس کے بچوں کو بھی آزاد کردیا ١٥٠٠ درہم بھی واپس کردیے۔
Ishaq jo Abdullah bin Umar ke ghulam thay farmate hain ke un ke wald ne Abdullah bin Umar (RA) se 30 hazar mein katibat karli. Wo aajiz agaya to us ko ghulami mein luta diya. Us ne nisf ya taqreeban nisf ada kardi thi. Us ne mutalba kardiya ke mere bachon ko azad kardein jo un ki mukatabat ke darmiyan paida huye, us ko aur us ke bachon ko bhi azad kardiya 1500 dirham bhi wapis kardiye.
Abu Zubair narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah regarding a scribe. He said (regarding the scribe), when he has fulfilled the initial part of his agreed upon writing and then becomes incapable of completing it, is he considered a slave? He (the Prophet) replied, "The owner of the condition has more right to his condition, which he stipulated."

(٢١٧٥٨) ابوزبیر نے حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ سے سنا، وہ مکاتب کے بارے میں کہتے تھے جب وہ اپنی کتابت کا ابتدائی حصہ ادا کرچکا ہو اور وہ عاجز آجائے کیا وہ غلام ہے ؟ فرمایا : مالک اپنی شرط کا زیادہ حق دار ہے، جو اس نے شرط لگائی۔
(21758) abo zubair ne hazrat jabir bin abdullah se suna, woh muktib ke bare mein kehte thay jab woh apni kitabat ka ibtidai hissa ada karchuka ho aur woh aajiz aajaye kya woh ghulam hai ? farmaya : malik apni shart ka ziada haqdaar hai, jo usne shart lagai.
Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that if a slave does not pay two consecutive installments, he will be made a slave again. In another narration, it is stated that it should be in the second or third year.

(٢١٧٦٠) حضرت علی (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ جب غلام مسلسل دو قسطین ادا نہ کرے تو دوبارہ غلام بنا لیا جائے گا۔ دوسری روایت میں ہے کہ وہ دوسرے یا تیسرے سال میں ہو۔
(21760) Hazrat Ali (RA) farmate hain keh jab ghulam musalsal do qistain ada na kare to dobara ghulam bana liya jaye ga. Dusri riwayat mein hai keh woh dusre ya tesre saal mein ho.
It is narrated from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that if a slave is unable to pay his debt, then he should be made to work for two years. If he pays off his debt through his labor, then he is free. Otherwise, he becomes a slave again.

(٢١٧٦١) حضرت علی (رض) سے منقول ہے کہ اگر غلام عاجز آجائے تو دو سال اس سے مزدوری کروائی جائے۔ اگر وہ اپنی کتابت ادا کر دے تو آزاد و، گرنہ دوبارہ غلام بنالیا جائے۔
(21761) Hazrat Ali (RA) se manqol hai keh agar ghulam aajiz aa jaye to do sal us se mehnat karwai jaye. Agar wo apni kitaabat ada kar de to azad o, warna dobara ghulam bana liya jaye.
