Chapter: Praying Over Funerals and Burying the Dead Any Hour, Day or Night
باب الصلاة على الجنائز ودفن الموتى أي ساعة شاء من ليل أو نهار
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 6909
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (RA): A man whom the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to visit in his illness died, and he was buried at night. When the morning came, he (ﷺ) was informed of his death. He (ﷺ) said: "What prevented you from informing me?" They said: "It was a dark night, and we disliked to put you to trouble." He (ﷺ) went to his grave and offered the funeral prayer.

(٦٩٠٩) حضرت ابن عباس (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ ایک شخص فوت ہوگیا جس کی تیمار داری رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کیا کرتے تھے، اسے رات میں ہی دفن کردیا گیا۔ جب صبح ہوئی تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو اس کی موت سے آگاہ کیا گیا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تمہیں کس نے منع کیا کہ مجھے اطلاع دیتے تو انھوں نے کہا کہ اندھیری رات تھی، اس لیے ہم نے آپ کو مشقت میں ڈالنا پسند نہ کیا، پھر آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس کی قبر پر آئے اور نمازِ جنازہ ادا کی۔
امام بخاری نے اپنی صحیح میں محمد سے اور انھوں نے ابو معاویہ سے بیان کیا اور مسلم نے دوسری سند سے شیبانی سے مختصاً بیان کیا۔
(6909) Hazrat Ibn Abbas (RA) se riwayat hai ki ek shakhs faut hogaya jis ki timaardari Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) karte thay, use raat mein hi dafan kar diya gaya. Jab subah hui to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko us ki maut se aagah kiya gaya to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: tumhen kis ne mana kiya ke mujhe ittila dete to unhon ne kaha ki andheri raat thi, is liye hum ne aap ko mushqat mein daalna pasand na kiya, phir aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) us ki qabar par aaye aur namaz-e-janaza ada ki.
Imam Bukhari ne apni Sahih mein Muhammad se aur unhon ne Abu Moawiya se bayan kiya aur Muslim ne dusri sanad se Shaibani se mukhtasaran bayan kiya.
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the people saw a fire in the graveyard so they came to it and saw that you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were in the grave and saying: Make my companion hold me and this was the one who would raise his voice while remembering Allah.
It is narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was night time and you had a lamp with you.

(٦٩١٠) جابر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ لوگوں نے قبرستان میں آگ دیکھی تو وہ وہاں آئے تو دیکھا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) قبر میں ہیں اور کہہ رہے ہیں : مجھے اپنا ساتھی پکڑاؤ اور یہ وہ تھا جو اللہ کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے آواز بلند کرتا تھا۔
ابو ذر (رض) سے یہ روایت ہے کہ یہ رات کا وقت تھا اور آپ کے ساتھ چراغ تھا۔
(6910) Jabir (rz) farmate hain ki logon ne qabristan mein aag dekhi to wo wahan aaye to dekha ki aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) qabar mein hain aur keh rahe hain : mujhe apna saathi pakrao aur ye wo tha jo Allah ka zikr karte hue awaz buland karta tha.
Abu zar (rz) se ye riwayat hai ki ye raat ka waqt tha aur aap ke saath charagh tha.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that I went to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and narrated a hadith. Then she said that he asked: "On what day did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pass away?" I said: "On Monday." He said: "I hope that there is only a night between me and death." He (Abu Bakr) died on Tuesday evening and was buried before the morning. He had asked: "In how many shrouds was the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) shrouded?" I said: "In three Yemeni sheets, without a shirt or a turban." He looked at his clothes in which he had been sick, which were mixed with saffron and musk, and said: "Wash these clothes of mine and shroud me in them, adding two more sheets." I said: "These are old." He said: "The living have more right to new clothes than the dead. These were only for a respite."
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was buried at night. It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), was buried at night. It is narrated from Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was buried at the end of the time of Isha (night prayer). It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the Book of Prayer that he prayed the funeral prayer of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) after the morning prayer.

(٦٩١١) سیدہ عائشہ (رض) نے روایت ہے کہ میں ابوبکر (رض) کے پاس گئی اور حدیث بیان کی۔ پھر وہ فرماتی ہیں کہ انھوں نے کہا : آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کس دن فوت ہوئے تھے ؟ میں نے کہا : پیر کے دن تو انھوں نے کہا : مجھے امید ہے کہ میرے اور موت کے درمیان رات ہے۔ آپ (رض) منگل کی شام فوت ہوئے اور صبح ہونے سے پہلے دفن کردیے گئے ، انھوں نے پوچھا : کتنے کپڑوں میں آپ کو کفن دیا گیا ؟ میں نے کہا : تین یمنی چاروں میں ، جس میں قمیص نہیں تھی اور نہ ہی پگڑی تھی تو انھوں نے اپنے کپڑوں کی طرف دیکھا جس میں وہ بیمار ہوئے تھے ، جس میں زعفران کستوری کی آمیزش تھی تو انھوں نے کہا : میرے ان کپڑوں کو دھو ڈالو اور اس میں دو کپڑوں کا اضافہ کر کے مجھے کفن دینا ۔ میں نے کہا : یہ پرانے ہیں تو انھوں نے کہا : زندہ لوگ نئے کپڑوں کے مردہ سے زیادہ حق دار ہیں بیشک یہ مہلت کے لیے تھے۔
سیدہ عائشہ (رض) سے نقل کیا گیا ہے کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو رات کے وقت دفن کیا گیا اور ابن عباس (رض) سے نقل کیا گیا ہے کہ فاطمہ بنت رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو رات میں دفن کیا گیا۔ عثمان بن عفان (رض) سے نقل کیا گیا کہ عشا کے آخری وقت میں دفن کیا گیا۔ کتاب الصلوٰۃ میں ابوہریرہ (رض) سے نقل کیا گیا ہے کہ انھوں نے سیدہ عائشہ (رض) کا جنازہ صبح کی نماز کے بعد پڑھا۔
(6911) Syeda Ayesha (RA) ne riwayat hai ki main Abubakar (RA) ke paas gayi aur hadees bayaan ki. Phir wo farmati hain ki unhon ne kaha: Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) kis din faut huye thay? Main ne kaha: Peer ke din to unhon ne kaha: Mujhe umeed hai ki mere aur maut ke darmiyaan raat hai. Aap (RA) mangal ki shaam faut huye aur subah hone se pehle dafan kar diye gaye, unhon ne poocha: Kitne kapdon mein aap ko kafan diya gaya? Main ne kaha: Teen yamani chaaron mein, jis mein qamees nahi thi aur na hi pagdi thi to unhon ne apne kapdon ki taraf dekha jis mein wo beemar huye thay, jis mein zaafran kastori ki ameezish thi to unhon ne kaha: Mere in kapdon ko dho daalo aur is mein do kapdon ka izafa kar ke mujhe kafan dena. Main ne kaha: Ye purane hain to unhon ne kaha: Zinda log naye kapdon ke murda se zyada haqdaar hain beshak ye mohlat ke liye thay.
Syeda Ayesha (RA) se naqal kiya gaya hai ki Aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko raat ke waqt dafan kiya gaya aur Ibn Abbas (RA) se naqal kiya gaya hai ki Fatima bint Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ko raat mein dafan kiya gaya. Usman bin Affan (RA) se naqal kiya gaya ki isha ke aakhri waqt mein dafan kiya gaya. Kitab us-Salat mein Abu Hurairah (RA) se naqal kiya gaya hai ki unhon ne Syeda Ayesha (RA) ka janaza subah ki namaz ke baad parha.
Imam Shafi'i said: Trustworthy people from Medina told us, I don't remember the chain, that when the funeral prayer of 'Aqil ibn Abi Talib was offered, the sun had already turned yellow, before sunset, and they did not wait for it to set.

(٦٩١٢) امام شافعی فرماتے ہیں کہ اہل مدینہ کے ثقہ لوگوں نے ہمیں بتلایا، مجھے سند یاد نہیں کہ عقیل بن ابی طالب کی نماز جنازہ پڑھائی گئی تو سورج زرد ہوچکا تھا۔ غروب ہونے سے پہلے اور انھوں نے اس کے غروب ہونے کا انتظار نہ کیا۔
(6912) Imam Shafai farmate hain ki ahl Madina ke siqah logon ne hamen batlaya, mujhe sanad yaad nahin ki Aqil bin Abi Talib ki namaz janaza parhayi gayi to sooraj zard hochuka tha. Ghuroob hone se pehle aur unhon ne us ke ghuroob hone ka intzar na kiya.
