Chapter: Permission for Tears Until the One Crying Passes Away

باب من رخص في البكاء إلى أن يموت الذي يبكى عليه

Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 7153

Jabir bin ‘Atik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, visited Abdullah bin Thabit while he was ill and on the verge of death, groaning in pain. The Prophet said, “To Allah we belong and to Him we will return.” He said, “O Abu Rabia, we have been defeated by your illness.” The women began to wail and cry, but Ibn ‘Atik tried to silence them. The Prophet said, “Leave them alone, for they will only weep when it is obligatory.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, when is it obligatory?” The Prophet said, “When he has died.”

(٧١٥٣) جابر بن عتیک فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) عبداللہ بن ثابت کی تیمار داری کے لیے آئے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے دیکھا کہ ان پر موت غالب آچکی ہے اور وہ چیخے تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے انا للہ وانا الیہ راجعون کہا اور فرمایا : اے ابو ربیع ! ہم تیری طرف سے مغلوب ہوگئے تو عورتیں چیخیں اور روئیں اور ابن عتیک انھیں چپ کروا رہا تھا تو رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : انھیں چھوڑ دے جب واجب ہوجائے تو رونے والی نہ روئے۔ انھوں نے کہا : اللہ کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) وجوب کیا ہے ؟ تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جب وہ فوت ہوجائے۔

(7153) Jabir bin Uteek farmate hain ke Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) Abdullah bin Sabit ki taymadari ke liye aye to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne dekha ke un per mout ghalib aachuki hai aur wo cheekhe to Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun kaha aur farmaya: Aye Abu Rabia! Hum teri taraf se maghloob hogaye to aurten cheekhin aur roein aur Ibn Uteek unhen chup karwa raha tha to Rasul Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Unhen chhor de jab wajib hojaye to rone wali na roye. Unhon ne kaha: Allah ke Rasul ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) wujoob kya hai? To aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne farmaya: Jab wo foot hojaye.

٧١٥٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمُزَكِّي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبُوشَنْجِيُّ، ثنا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ، عَنْ عَتِيكِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ، وَهُوَ جَدُّ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَبُو أُمِّهِ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَتِيكٍ أَخْبَرَهُ،أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَ يَعُودُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ فَوَجَدَهُ قَدْ غُلِبَ فَصَاحَ بِهِ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ فَاسْتَرْجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ:" غُلِبْنَا عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا الرَّبِيعِ "،فَصَاحَ النِّسْوَةُ وَبَكَيْنَ فَجَعَلَ ابْنُ عَتِيكٍ يُسَكِّتُهُنَّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" دَعْهُنَّ فَإِذَا وَجَبَ فَلَا تَبْكِيَنَّ بَاكِيَةٌ وَمَا الْوُجُوبُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ: "إِذَا مَاتَ "

Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned from Uhud, he heard the women of the Ansar weeping, so he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not weep except for Hamza, for there is no weeping for him." So when this reached the women of the Ansar, they began to weep for Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) slept, then he woke up, and they were still weeping, so he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Woe to you, are you still weeping? You should be quiet, and do not weep for any dead after today."

(٧١٥٤) انس بن مالک (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) احد سے پلٹے تو انصاری عورتوں کو روتے ہوئے سنا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : مگر تم حمزہ پر روؤ جس پر رونے والے نہیں ہیں تو یہ بات انصار کی عورتوں تک پہنچی تو وہ حمزہ (رض) کی وجہ سے رونے لگیں۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سو گئے ، پھر بیدار ہوئے تو وہ ابھی رو رہی تھیں تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تم پر افسوس ابھی تک رو رہی ہو، چاہیے کہ وہ خاموش ہوجائیں اور آج کے بعد کسی فوت ہونے والے پر نہ روئیں۔

7154 Anas bin Malik (RA) farmate hain ke jab Rasul Allah (SAW) Uhud se palte to Ansaari auraton ko rote hue suna to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Magar tum Hamza par ro jo jis par rone wale nahin hain to yeh baat Ansar ki auraton tak pahunchi to woh Hamza (RA) ki wajah se rone lagi. Aap (SAW) so gaye, phir bedar hue to woh abhi ro rahi thin to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Tum per afsos abhi tak ro rahi ho, chahiye ke woh khamosh ho jaen aur aaj ke baad kisi foot hone wale par na roen.

٧١٥٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو عَمْرٍو عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ السَّمَّاكِ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثنا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ،عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ:لَمَّا رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أُحُدٍ سَمِعَ نِسَاءَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَبْكِينَ،فَقَالَ:" لَكِنَّ حَمْزَةَ لَا بَوَاكِيَ لَهُ "فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ نِسَاءَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَبَكَيْنَ لِحَمْزَةَ فَنَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَهُنَّ يَبْكِينَ فَقَالَ:" يَا وَيْحَهُنَّ مَا زِلْنَ يَبْكِينَ مُنْذُ الْيَوْمِ فَلْيَسْكُتْنَ وَلَا يَبْكِينَ عَلَى هَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ ". وَقَدْ قِيلَ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

(7155) Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned from the Battle of Uhud, he heard the women of Banu Abd al-Ashhal weeping for their martyrs. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no one to weep for Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him)." Then the Ansar women came and started weeping for Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). He (the Prophet) slept, then woke up and they were still weeping. So he (the Prophet) said: "They are grieving for them, they are still weeping. Tell them to go and from today onwards, they should not weep for any martyr." (And let her not weep for one who is dead after this day). If it is meant to be general, as in the hadith of Abdullah ibn Utayq, that when it (death) becomes inevitable, then let no female mourner weep. It is also likely that it refers to the martyrs of Uhud, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "What you have wept for is enough, and you are forbidden to weep for anyone who dies after this, except without wailing and with a grieving heart."

(٧١٥٥) ابن عمر (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ غزوہ احد سے جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) لوٹے تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے بنو عبد الاشھل کی عورتوں کو اپنے شہداء پر روتے ہوئے سنا تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : حمزہ (رض) پر تو کوئی رونے والا نہیں، پھر انصاری عورتیں آئیں اور حمزہ (رض) پر رونا شروع کردیا۔ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سو گئے، پھر بیدار ہوئے اور وہ ابھی رو رہی تھیں تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : ان پر افسوس ہے یہ ابھی تک رو رہی ہیں، ان سے کہو کہ چلی جائیں اور آج کے بعد کسی شہید ہونے والے پر نہ روئیں۔ ( (وَلاَ یَبْکِینَ عَلَی ہَالِکٍ بَعْدَ الْیَوْمِ ) ) اگر اس سے عموم مراد ہے جیسے عبداللہ بن عتیک کی حدیث میں ہے کہ جب وہ واجب ہوجائے تو کوئی رونے والی نہ روئے۔ اس سے یہ بھی احتمال ہے کہ اس سے مراد شھدائِ احد ہوں جیسا کہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : جو تم نے رو لیا وہ کافی ہے اور اس کے بعد فوت ہونے والے پر رونے کی رخصت دے دی گئی بغیر آنسوؤں کے اور غم گین دل سے۔

7155 Ibn Umar (RA) farmate hain ke ghazwa uhud se jab Rasool Allah (SAW) lote to aap (SAW) ne Banu Abdul Ashhal ki auraton ko apne shuhada par rote hue suna to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Hamza (RA) par to koi rone wala nahi phir ansari auraten aayin aur Hamza (RA) par rona shuru kar diya aap (SAW) so gaye phir bedar huye aur wo abhi ro rahi thin to aap (SAW) ne farmaya: In par afsos hai ye abhi tak ro rahi hain in se kaho ke chali jayen aur aaj ke baad kisi shaheed hone wale par na royen ((wa la yab keena ala halikin ba'ad al yawm)) agar is se umum murad hai jaise Abdullah bin Utaik ki hadees mein hai ke jab wo wajib ho jaye to koi rone wali na roye is se ye bhi ehtema'l hai ke is se murad shuhada'e uhud hon jaisa ke aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Jo tum ne ro liya wo kafi hai aur is ke baad faut hone wale par rone ki riayat de di gayi baghair aansuon ke aur ghamgeen dil se.

٧١٥٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمَحْبُوبِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، أنبأ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ،قَالَ رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَسَمِعَ نِسَاءَ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ يَبْكِينَ عَلَى هَلْكَاهُنَّ فَقَالَ:" لَكِنَّ حَمْزَةَ لَا بَوَاكِيَ لَهُ "فَجِئْنَ نِسَاءُ الْأَنْصَارِ فَبَكَيْنَ عَلَى حَمْزَةَ عِنْدَهُ وَرَقَدَ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ وَهُنَّ يَبْكِينَ فَقَالَ:" وَيْحَهُنَّ إِنَّهُنَّ لَهَاهُنَا حَتَّى الْآنَ مُرُوهُنَّ فَلْيَرْجِعْنَ وَلَا يَبْكِينَ عَلَى هَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ ".وَقَوْلُهُ:" وَلَا يَبْكِينَ عَلَى هَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ "إِنْ أَرَادَ بِهِ الْعُمُومَ كَانَ كَقَوْلِهِ فِي حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عَتِيكٍ:" فَإِذَا وَجَبَ فَلَا تَبْكِيَنَّ بَاكِيَةٌ "وَيُحْتَمَلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْمُرَادُ بِهِ عَلَى هَالِكٍ مِنْ شُهَدَاءِ أُحُدٍ فَكَأَنَّهُ قَالَ حَسْبُكُنَّ مَا بَكَيتُنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَقَدْ وَرَدَتِ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي الْبُكَاءِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ بِدَمْعِ الْعَيْنِ وَحُزْنِ الْقَلْبِ فَيَكُونُ حَدِيثُ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ مَحْمُولًا عَلَى الِاخْتِيَارِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
