Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 14242
(14242) Narrated Abdullah bin Abbas (RA): He was with Umar bin Al-Khattab (RA) when he went towards Syria and the people returning from the expedition met him. Among them were the commanders of the army appointed over the troops including Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah. They (the commanders) informed him (Umar) that an epidemic had broken out in Syria. Umar (RA) ordered to gather the early emigrants. I gathered all of them. Umar (RA) consulted them, but they differed in their opinions. Some said, "You should not enter the place where the epidemic has broken out and you should return." Others said, "You are going there (for Jihad) for a purpose, and you should not return. This is the Decree of Allah." Then Umar (RA) said, "You may go." Then he said, "Call the Ansar". I called them and he consulted them. They differed as the emigrants had differed, some saying one thing and some another. He (Umar) told them (to wait) and they too waited. He then said, "Call upon the old emigrants who had migrated at the time of the conquest (of Makkah)." I called them and their opinion was unanimous that he should return. Umar (RA) then announced to the people to ride their camels and they rode. He then said, "Look at what I am going to do and give the order accordingly." Umar (RA) rode in the morning, then addressed the people saying, "I am returning." Abu Ubaidah said (as he disliked his opposing him), "Are you running away from what Allah has ordained?" Umar (RA) became angry and said, "Were it anyone else besides you, O Abu Ubaidah! I am running from the Decree of Allah to the Decree of Allah! I know that if there are two valleys, one with plenty of grass and the other barren and if he (the shepherd) grazes his cattle in the valley having abundant grass, that is a decree of Allah, and if he grazes them in the barren valley, that is also a decree of Allah." He then said, "O Abu Ubaidah, proceed!" Shortly after Abu Ubaidah had left, Abdur Rahman bin Auf came. He was not present there before for some need of his. When he arrived, the people were differing (in their opinions). He said, "I have some knowledge about it." Umar (RA) asked, "What is it?" He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, 'If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out out in a land where you are present, do not move out of that place.'" Thereupon, Umar (RA) praised and thanked Allah, returned and ordered the people to return as well. (b) Narrated Abdullah bin Umar and Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'a: That Umar (RA) returned from Sarg.

(١٤٢٤٢) حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ حضرت عمر بن خطاب (رض) کے ساتھ تھے، جب وہ شام کی جانب گئے تو لوگ سرغ سے واپس آرہے تھے، ان کے امراء سردار جو لشکروں پر مقرر تھے وہ بھی ملے۔ ابوعبیدہ بن جراح اور ان کے ساتھی بھی کہ شام میں بیماری پھیل گئی ہے تو حضرت عمر (رض) نے مہاجرین اولین کو جمع کرنے کا حکم دیا، میں نے سب کو جمع کردیا۔ حضرت عمر (رض) نے ان سے مشورہ کیا تو انھوں نے اس کے بارے میں اختلاف کیا۔ بعض نے کہا : وباء والی جگہ نہیں جانا چاہیے واپس پلٹ جاؤ۔ بعض نے کہا : اب کسی غرض سے وہاں جا رہے ہیں، واپس نہیں پلٹنا چاہیے، یہ اللہ کی تقدیر ہے، آپ (رض) نے ان سے مشورہ کیا تو حکم فرمایا، وہ چلے گئے، پھر کہا : انصار کو بلاؤ، میں نے ان کو بلایا، ان سے مشورہ طلب کیا تو وہ بھی مہاجرین کی طرح مختلف ہوگئے، بعض نے کچھ کہا اور بعض نے کچھ کہا۔ آپ (رض) نے ان کو بھی حکم دیا، وہ بھی چلے گئے۔ پھر کہا کہ فتح کے وقت ہجرت کرنے والے مہاجرین میں سے کوئی بزرگ ہو تو اس کو بلاؤ۔ میں نے ان کو بلایا تو ان کی رائے متفق تھی کہ واپس پلٹ جاؤ تو حضرت عمر (رض) نے لوگوں میں اعلان کروا دیا کہ اپنی سواریوں پر رہنا، وہ اپنی سواریوں پر رہے۔ فرمانے لگے : جو میں کروں دیکھتے رہنا جس کا حکم دوں کردینا۔ وہاں حضرت عمر (رض) نے صبح کی پھر سوار ہوئے، پھر لوگوں سے کہنے لگے میں واپس جا رہا ہوں تو ابوعبیدہ کہنے لگے اور وہ ان کی مخالفت کو بھی ناپسند کرتے تھے، کیا اللہ کی تقدیر سے بھاگ رہے ہیں ؟ حضرت عمر (رض) کو غصہ آگیا اور فرمانے لگے : اگر تیرے علاوہ کوئی دوسرا ہوتا اے ابو عبیدہ ! میں اللہ کی تقدیر سے دوسری تقدیر کی طرف بھاگ رہا ہوں، اگر دو وادیاں ہوں، ایک خشک سالی کا شکار اور دوسری سرسبز و شاداب، اگر اس نے خشک وادی میں اپنے جانور کو چھوڑا تو یہ بھی اللہ کی تقدیر ہے اور اگر وہ اپنے جانور سر سبزو شاداب وادی میں چھوڑے تو یہ بھی اللہ کی تقدیر ہے۔ کہتے ہیں : پھر ابوعبیدہ چلے گئے، واپسی کے تھوڑی دیر بعد حضرت عبدالرحمن بن عوف بھی آگئے، وہ اپنی کسی ضرورت کی وجہ سے حاضر نہ تھے ؟ وہ آئے تو لوگ اختلاف کر رہے تھے۔ فرمانے لگے : اس بارے میں میرے پاس علم ہے تو حضرت عمر (رض) نے پوچھا : وہ کیا ہے ؟ فرمانے لگے : میں نے رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے سنا، آپ نے فرمایا تھا کہ جب تم کسی زمین میں وباء کا سنو تو وہاں مت جاؤ اور جب وباء پھیل جائے اور تم اس زمین میں ہو تو وہاں سے بھاگ کر نہ نکلو تو حضرت عمر (رض) نے اللہ کی تعریف بیان کی اور خود بھی واپس ہوئے اور لوگوں کو بھی لوٹنے کا حکم فرمایا۔ (ب) عبداللہ بن عمر اور عبداللہ بن عامر بن ربیعہ دونوں فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت عمر (رض) سرغ نامی جگہ سے واپس ہوئے۔
(14242) Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (Razi Allah Anhu) farmate hain ki woh Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (Razi Allah Anhu) ke sath the, jab woh Sham ki taraf gaye to log saragh se wapas aa rahe the, unke umra sardar jo lashkaron par muqarrar the woh bhi mile. Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah aur unke sathi bhi ki Sham mein bimari phail gayi hai to Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne muhajireen awwalin ko jama karne ka hukm diya, mainne sab ko jama kar diya. Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne unse mashwara kiya to unhon ne iske bare mein ikhtilaf kiya. Baaz ne kaha: Waba wali jagah nahin jana chahiye wapas palat jao. Baaz ne kaha: Ab kisi gharz se wahan ja rahe hain, wapas nahin palatna chahiye, yeh Allah ki taqdeer hai, aap (Razi Allah Anhu) ne unse mashwara kiya to hukm farmaya, woh chale gaye, phir kaha: Ansar ko bulao, mainne unko bulaya, unse mashwara talab kiya to woh bhi Muhajireen ki tarah mukhtalif ho gaye, baaz ne kuchh kaha aur baaz ne kuchh kaha. Aap (Razi Allah Anhu) ne unko bhi hukm diya, woh bhi chale gaye. Phir kaha ki fatah ke waqt hijrat karne wale muhajireen mein se koi buzurg ho to usko bulao. Mainne unko bulaya to unki rai mutfiq thi ki wapas palat jao to Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne logon mein elan karwa diya ki apni sawariyon par rahna, woh apni sawariyon par rahe. Farmane lage: Jo main karoon dekhte rahna jis ka hukm doon kar dena. Wahan Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne subah ki phir sawar huye, phir logon se kahne lage main wapas ja raha hun to Abu Ubaidah kahne lage aur woh unki mukhalifat ko bhi napasand karte the, kya Allah ki taqdeer se bhaag rahe hain? Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ko ghussa aa gaya aur farmane lage: Agar tere alawa koi dusra hota ae Abu Ubaidah! Main Allah ki taqdeer se dusri taqdeer ki taraf bhaag raha hun, agar do wadiyan hon, ek khushk saali ka shikar aur dusri sar sabz o shadab, agar usne khushk wadi mein apne janwar ko chhora to yeh bhi Allah ki taqdeer hai aur agar woh apne janwar sar sabzo shadab wadi mein chhore to yeh bhi Allah ki taqdeer hai. Kahte hain: Phir Abu Ubaidah chale gaye, wapsi ke thori der baad Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf bhi aa gaye, woh apni kisi zaroorat ki wajah se hazir nah the? Woh aaye to log ikhtilaf kar rahe the. Farmane lage: Is bare mein mere pass ilm hai to Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne pucha: Woh kya hai? Farmane lage: Mainne Rasulullah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) se suna, aap ne farmaya tha ki jab tum kisi zameen mein waba ka suno to wahan mat jao aur jab waba phail jaye aur tum us zameen mein ho to wahan se bhaag kar nah niklo to Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) ne Allah ki tareef bayan ki aur khud bhi wapas huye aur logon ko bhi lautne ka hukm farmaya. (b) Abdullah bin Umar aur Abdullah bin Aamir bin Rabia dono farmate hain ki Hazrat Umar (Razi Allah Anhu) saragh nami jagah se wapas huye.
١٤٢٤٢ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ،وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي قَالَا:ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ، حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ حِينَ خَرَجَ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَرَجَعَ بِالنَّاسِ مِنْ سَرْغَ فَلَقِيَهُ أُمَرَاؤُهُ عَلَى الْأَجْنَادِ فَلَقِيَهُ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ ⦗٣٥٥⦘ الْجَرَّاحِ، وَأَصْحَابُهُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ وَقَدْ وَقَعَ الْوَجَعُ بِالشَّامِ،فَقَالَ عُمَرُ:اجْمَعْ لِيَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الْأَوَّلِينَ، فَجَمَعْتُهُمْ لَهُ فَاسْتَشَارَهُمْ فَاخْتَلَفُوا عَلَيْهِ،فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ:ارْجِعْ بِالنَّاسِ وَلَا تُقْدِمْهُمْ عَلَى هَذَا الْوَبَاءِ،وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ:إِنَّمَا هُوَ قَدَرُ اللهِ وَقَدْ خَرَجْتَ لِأَمْرٍ فَلَا تَرْجِعْ عَنْهُ فَأَمَرَهُمْ فَخَرَجُوا عَنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: ادْعُ لِيَ الْأَنْصَارَ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَاسْتَشَارَهُمْ فَسَلَكُوا سَبِيلَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ فَاخْتَلَفُوا كَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ فَأَمَرَهُمْ فَخَرَجُوا عَنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: ادْعُ لِي مَنْ كَانَ هَاهُنَا مِنْ مَشْيَخَةِ مُهَاجِرَةِ الْفَتْحِ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَاسْتَشَارَهُمْ فَاجْتَمَعَ رَأْيُهُمْ عَلَى أَنْ يَرْجِعَ بِالنَّاسِ فَأَذَّنَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي النَّاسِ إِنِّي مُصَبِّحٌ عَلَى ظَهْرٍ فَأَصْبَحُوا عَلَيْهِ فَإِنِّي مَاضٍ لِمَا أَرَى فَانْظُرُوا مَا آمُرُكُمْ بِهِ فَامْضُوا لَهُ فَأَصْبَحَ قَالَ: فَرَكِبَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلنَّاسِ: إِنِّي أَرْجِعُ،فَقَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُخَالِفَهُ:أَفِرَارًا مِنْ قَدَرِ اللهِ؟فَغَضِبَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَقَالَ:لَوْ غَيْرُكَ قَالَ هَذَا يَا أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ، نَعَمْ، أَفِرُّ مِنْ قَدَرِ اللهِ إِلَى قَدَرِ اللهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا هَبَطَ وَادِيًا لَهُ عُدْوَتَانِ وَاحِدَةٌ جَدْبَةٌ وَالْأُخْرَى خَصِبَةٌ أَلَيْسَ إِنْ رَعَى الْجَدْبَةَ رَعَاهَا بِقَدَرِ اللهِ، وَإِنْ رَعَى الْخَصْبَةَ رَعَاهَا بِقَدَرِ اللهِ؟قَالَ:ثُمَّ خَلَا بِأَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ فَتَرَاجَعَا سَاعَةً،فَجَاءَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ مُتَغَيِّبًا فِي بَعْضِ حَاجَتِهِ فَجَاءَ وَالْقَوْمُ يَخْتَلِفُونَ فَقَالَ:إِنَّ عِنْدِي فِي هَذَا عِلْمًا،فَقَالَ عُمَرُ:مَا هُوَ؟قَالَ:سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:" إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ، وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا يُخْرِجَنَّكُمُ الْفِرَارُ مِنْهُ "، فَحَمِدَ اللهَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَرَجَعَ وَأَمَرَ النَّاسَ أَنْ يَرْجِعُوا،قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ:أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ،وَعَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَا:إِنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّمَا رَجَعَ مِنْ سَرْغَ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ، مِنْ حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ
