Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 1833
Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): During the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), when the time for prayer would come, a person would run through the streets announcing, "Prayer, prayer!" This became difficult for the people, so they said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should we make a bell?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "That is of the Christians." They said, "Should we make a horn?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "That is of the Jews." The narrator said: Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to give the Adhan twice and the Iqamah once.

(١٨٣٣) سیدنا انس (رض) سے روایت ہے کہ جب نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے زمانہ میں نماز کا وقت ہوتا تو ایک شخص راستے میں دوڑتا ہوا اعلان کرتا : نماز نماز ! لوگوں پر یہ بات مشکل ہوگئی تو انھوں نے کہا : اے اللہ کے رسول ! اگر ہم ناقوس بنالیں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے کہ فرمایا : یہ تو نصاریٰ کا ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا : ہم ایک سینگ بنالیں ؟ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : یہ یہود کا ہے۔ راوی کہتا ہے : پھر آپ نے بلال (رض) کو حکم دیا کہ وہ اذان جفت کہے اور اقامت ایک مرتبہ کہے۔
1833 Saidina Anas (RA) se riwayat hai ki jab Nabi (SAW) ke zamane mein namaz ka waqt hota to aik shakhs raste mein daudta hua elan karta: Namaz namaz! Logon per yeh baat mushkil hogayi to unhon ne kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasool! Agar hum naqoos banalein? Aap (SAW) ne kaha farmaya: Yeh to nasara ka hai. Unhon ne kaha: Hum aik seeng banalein? Aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Yeh yahood ka hai. Rawi kehta hai: Phir aap ne Bilal (RA) ko hukm diya ki woh azaan juft kahe aur iqamat ek martaba kahe.
١٨٣٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْقَطِيعِيُّ ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ثنا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ،قَالَ:كَانَتِ الصَّلَاةُ إِذَا حَضَرَتْ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَعَى رَجُلٌ فِي الطَّرِيقِ فَنَادَى: الصَّلَاةَ الصَّلَاةَ،فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالُوا:لَوِ اتَّخَذْنَا نَاقُوسًا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ:" ذَلِكَ لِلنَّصَارَى "فَقَالُوا: لَوِ اتَّخَذْنَا بُوقًا قَالَ:" ذَلِكَ لِلْيَهُودِ "قَالَ: فَأُمِرَ بِلَالٌ أَنْ يَشْفَعَ الْأَذَانَ وَيُوتِرَ الْإِقَامَةَ "
