Chapter on the Opinion of Those Who Say It Is Fajr
باب من قال: هي الصبح
Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 2174
It is narrated by Amr bin Rafi that he was writing the Quran for the respected wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Umm al-Mumineen Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her). He said, "When you reach this verse, tell me: {حٰفِظُوْا عَلَی الصَّلَوٰتِ وَ الصَّلٰوۃِ الْوُسْطٰی} (Al-Baqarah: 238) - Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawat (the prayers) especially the Middle Salat (the best prayer). So when I reached this verse, I told you (Hafsa). You told me to write this: {حٰفِظُوْا عَلَی الصَّلَوٰتِ وَ الصَّلٰوۃِ الْوُسْطٰی وَصَلاَۃِ الْعَصْرِ وَ قُوْمُوْا لِلّٰہِ قٰنِتِیْنَ} (Al-Baqarah: 238) - Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawat (the prayers) especially the Middle Salat (the best prayer) and the Asr prayer. And stand before Allah with obedience.

(٢١٧٤) حضرت عمرو بن رافع سے روایت ہے کہ نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی زوجہ محترمہ ام المومنین حفصہ (رض) کے لیے مصحف لکھ رہا تھا تو انھوں نے فرمایا : جب اس آیت پر پہنچو تو مجھے بتانا { حٰفِظُوْا عَلَی الصَّلَوٰتِ وَ الصَّلٰوۃِ الْوُسْطٰی } (البقرۃ : ٢٣٨) نمازیں پابندی سے ادا کرو خصوصاً درمیانی نماز ۔ میں جب اس آیت پر پہنچا تو میں نے آپ (رض) کو بتایا تو انھوں نے مجھ سے یہ لکھوایا :{ حٰفِظُوْا عَلَی الصَّلَوٰتِ وَ الصَّلٰوۃِ الْوُسْطٰی وَصَلاَۃِ الْعَصْرِ وَ قُوْمُوْا لِلّٰہِ قٰنِتِیْنَ } (البقرۃ : ٢٣٨) نمازوں پر محافظت کرو اور درمیانی نماز پر اور نماز عصر پر اور اللہ کے لیے فرمان بردار ہوجاؤ۔
(2174) Hazrat Amr bin Rafi se riwayat hai ki Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki zauja mohtarma Ummul Momineen Hafsa (Razi Allah Tala Anha) ke liye mushaf likh raha tha to unhon ne farmaya: Jab is ayat par pahuncho to mujhe batana {Hafizu alissalati wassalátil wussta} (Al Baqarah 238) Namazain pabndi se ada karo khusoosan darmiyani namaz. Main jab is ayat par pahuncha to main ne aap (Razi Allah Tala Anha) ko bataya to unhon ne mujh se ye likhvaya: {Hafizu alissalati wassalátil wussta wa salátil asr wa qoomoo lillahi qaniteen} (Al Baqarah 238) Namazon par muhafazat karo aur darmiyani namaz par aur namaz Asr par aur Allah ke liye farmanbardar ho jao.
٢١٧٤ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْمِهْرَجَانِيُّ الْعَدْلُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمُزَكِّي،ثنا ⦗٦٧٨⦘ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا مَالِكٌ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ رَافِعٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:كُنْتُ أَكْتُبُ مُصْحَفًا لِحَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ: إِذَا بَلَغْتَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ فَآذِنِّي{حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى}[البقرة: ٢٣٨]فَلَمَّا بَلَغْتُهَا آذَنْتُهَا فَأَمْلَتْ عَلَيَّ" حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى وَصَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ "قَانِتِينَ "
