Chapter: The Concurrence of the Two Eids When Eid Falls on a Friday
باب اجتماع العيدين بأن يوافق يوم العيد يوم الجمعة

Abu 'Ubayd, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, said: "I attended the 'Eid al-Adha prayer with 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He prayed and then delivered the sermon, saying, 'O people! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prohibited fasting on the two Eids. One is the day on which you break your fast [meaning 'Eid al-Fitr] and the other is the day on which you eat the meat of your sacrifices.'" Abu 'Ubayd said: "Then I attended [the 'Eid prayer] with 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), and it was also a Friday. He also prayed before the sermon, then delivered the sermon, saying, 'O people! This day two Eids have coincided for you, so whoever among the people of al-'Awali wants to wait for Jumu'ah, let him wait, and whoever wants to return, let him return. I give him permission.'" Abu 'Ubayd said: "Then I attended [the 'Eid prayer] with 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he also prayed the 'Eid prayer before the sermon, then he delivered the sermon and said, 'The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not eat the meat of your sacrifices for more than three days."'"

(٦٢٩٢) ابو عبید مولی ابن ازھر فرماتے ہیں کہ وہ عید الاضحی کے موقع پر حضرت عمر (رض) کے ساتھ حاضر ہوئے۔ انھوں نے نماز پڑھائی، پھر خطبہ ارشاد فرمایا کہ اے لوگو ! رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے عیدین میں روزہ رکھنے سے منع فرمایا ہے۔ ایک تو وہ دن ہے کہ تم اپنے روزوں کو افطار کرتے ہو ، یعنی عید الفطر مناتے ہو اور دوسرا وہ دن جس میں تم اپنی قربانیوں کے گوشت کھاتے ہو۔ ابو عبید فرماتے ہیں : پھر میں عثمان بن عفان (رض) کے ساتھ حاضر ہوا تو یہ عید بھی جمعہ کے دن تھی۔ انھوں نے بھی نماز خطبہ سے پہلے پڑھائی، پھر خطبہ ارشاد فرمایا کہ اے لوگو ! اس دن تمہارے لیے دو عیدیں جمع ہوگئی ہیں تو عوالی والوں میں سے جو جمعہ کا انتظار کرنا چاہے وہ انتظار کرسکتا ہے اور جو واپس جانا چاہے جاسکتا ہے۔ میں اجازت دیتا ہوں۔ ابوعبید فرماتے ہیں : پھر میں حضرت علی (رض) کے ساتھ حاضر ہوا تو انھوں نے بھی نمازِ عید خطبہ سے پہلے پڑھائی، پھر خطبہدیا اور فرمایا کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا : تم اپنی قربانیوں کے گوشت تین دن سے زیادہ نہ کھاؤ۔
(6292) Abu Ubaid moli Ibn Azhar farmate hain ki woh Eid ul Azha ke mauke par Hazrat Umar (RA) ke sath hazir hue. Unhon ne namaz parhayi, phir khutba irshad farmaya ki aye logo! Rasul Allah (SAW) ne Eidain mein roza rakhne se mana farmaya hai. Ek to woh din hai ki tum apne rozon ko iftari karte ho, yani Eid ul Fitr manate ho aur dusra woh din jis mein tum apni qurbanion ke gosht khate ho. Abu Ubaid farmate hain: phir main Usman bin Affan (RA) ke sath hazir hua to yeh Eid bhi juma ke din thi. Unhon ne bhi namaz khutba se pehle parhayi, phir khutba irshad farmaya ki aye logo! Is din tumhare liye do eiden jama hogayi hain to awali walon mein se jo juma ka intezar karna chahe woh intezar kar sakta hai aur jo wapas jana chahe ja sakta hai. Main ijazat deta hun. Abu Ubaid farmate hain: phir main Hazrat Ali (RA) ke sath hazir hua to unhon ne bhi namaz e Eid khutba se pehle parhayi, phir khutba diya aur farmaya ki Rasul Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: tum apni qurbanion ke gosht teen din se ziada na khao.
٦٢٩٢ -قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ:" ثُمَّ شَهِدْتُهُ مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، فَصَلَّى قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ،فَقَالَ:"إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَأْكُلُوا لُحُومَ نُسُكِكُمْ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ ". وَعَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ نَحْوَهُ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ حَبَّانَ بْنِ مُوسَى بِطُولِهِ
