Chapter on the encouragement to seek Laylat al-Qadr on the odd nights of the last seven nights of Ramadan, for if the month is counted from its end, its odd nights are the odd.

Sunan al-Kubra Bayhaqi 8532
(8532) Abu Sa'eed (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed I'tikaf during the middle ten days of Ramadan in order to seek Laylat al-Qadr, so that it would become clear. When the ten days were completed, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered his tent to be dismantled, so it was taken down. Then, for the last ten days, the tent was set up in the same place, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed I'tikaf during the last ten days. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out to us and said, "O people! I was informed of Laylat al-Qadr. I went out to inform you, but two men were quarreling, and Satan was with them. So, I forgot. Seek it in the seven, five nights." (Abu Mu'awiyah said: Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The third night." Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Sa'eed al-Jurairi a hadith with the same meaning, except that he said: "When twenty-one have passed, the one that is with it is the twenty-second.")

(٨٥٣٢) ابو سعید (رض) بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اعتکاف کیا رمضان کے درمیان والے عشرے میں لیلۃ القدر کو تلاش کرنے کے لیے تاکہ واضح ہوجائے ۔ جب پورا ہوگیا عشرہ تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے خیمہ ختم کرنے کا حکم دیا تو اسے اٹھالیا گیا ۔ پھر آخری عشرے کے لیے خیمہ نصب کیا گیا اسی جگہ اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے آخری عشرے کا اعتکاف کیا اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ہماری طرف نکلے اور فرمایا : اے لوگو ! مجھے لیلۃ القدر کی خبر دی گئی۔ میں نکلا تاکہ تمہیں آگاہ کروں مگر دو آدمی جھگڑا کررہے تھے اور ان کے ساتھ شیطان تھا۔ سو میں بھلادیا گیا۔ تم اسے تلاش کرو تو سات، پانچ کی راتوں کو۔ (ابومعاویہ کہتے ہیں کہ معاویہ (رض) نے کہا : تیسری رات میں امام مسلم نے صحیح میں سعید جریدی سے اسی معنی میں حدیث بیان کی مگر یہ کہ جب اکیس گزر جائیں جو اس کے ساتھ ہے وہ بائیس ہے)
(8532) Abu Saeed (Razi Allah Anhu) bayan karte hain ki Rasool Allah ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne Aitekaf kiya Ramzan ke darmiyan wale ashre mein Lailatul Qadr ko talash karne ke liye taake wazeh hojae. Jab poora hogaya ashra to aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne khaima khatam karne ka hukm diya to use uthalya gaya. Phir akhri ashre ke liye khaima nasb kiya gaya usi jagah aur aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne akhri ashre ka Aitekaf kiya aur aap ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) hamari taraf nikle aur farmaya: Aye logo! Mujhe Lailatul Qadr ki khabar di gayi. Main nikla taake tumhen agah karoon magar do aadmi jhagra kar rahe the aur unke sath shaitan tha. So main bhula diya gaya. Tum ise talash karo to saat, paanch ki raaton ko. (Abu Moavia kehte hain ki Moavia (Razi Allah Anhu) ne kaha: Teesri raat mein Imam Muslim ne Sahih mein Saeed Jurairi se isi mani mein hadees bayan ki magar ye ki jab ikis guzar jaen jo uske sath hai wo baais hai).
٨٥٣٢ -قَالَ أَبُو نَضْرَةَ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ:إِنَّكُمْ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْعَدَدِ مِنَّا فَكَيْفَ نَعُدُّهُنَّ؟قَالَ:" أَجَلْ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ إِذَا مَضَتْ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرُونَ فَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا التَّاسِعَةُ فَإِذَا مَضَتِ الَّتِي تَلِيهَا فَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا السَّابِعَةُ فَإِذَا مَضَتِ الَّتِي تَلِيهَا فَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا الْخَامِسَةُ "قَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ.أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُثَنَّى وَغَيْرِهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ بِمَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ:إِذَا مَضَتْ وَاحِدَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ فَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا اثْنَتَيْنِ وَعِشْرُونَ وَهِيَ التَّاسِعَةُ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ حَدِيثَ مُعَاوِيَةَ
