Sahih al-Bukhari 1900
Ibn Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that he heard Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) saying, ‘when you see the crescent (of the month of Ramadan), start fasting, and when you see the crescent (of the month of Shawwal), stop fasting; and if the sky is overcast (and you can't see it) then regard the month of Ramadan as of 30 days.’
حضرت ابن عمر ؓ سے روایت ہے انھوں نے کہا کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے سنا: ’’جب تم (رمضان کا) چاند دیکھوتو روزہ دیکھو اور جب تم شوال کا چاند دیکھو تو روزہ موقوف کرو۔ اگر مطلع ابر آلود ہوتو اس کے لیے اندازہ کرلو۔‘‘
Hazrat Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai unhon ne kaha ke main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko ye farmate suna: "Jab tum (Ramadan ka) chaand dekho to roza rakkho aur jab tum Shawwal ka chaand dekho to roza mauqoof karo. Agar matla abar-aalood ho to is ke liye andaza kar lo."
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَصُومُوا ، وَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَأَفْطِرُوا ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاقْدُرُوا لَهُ ، وَقَالَ غَيْرُهُ ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ وَيُونُسُ لِهِلَالِ رَمَضَانَ .
