Chapter: Whoever did not say (a Taslim) in addition to the Taslim of the Imam but thought that Taslim of the Salat (prayer) was sufficient

باب مَنْ لَمْ يَرَ رَدَّ السَّلاَمِ عَلَى الإِمَامِ وَاكْتَفَى بِتَسْلِيمِ الصَّلاَةِ
Sahih al-Bukhari 840
I heard from `Itban bin Malik Al-Ansari, who was one from Bani Salim, saying, I used to lead my tribe of Bani Salim in prayer. Once I went to the Prophet and said to him, 'I have weak eyesight and at times the rainwater flood intervenes between me and the mosque of my tribe and I wish that you would come to my house and pray at some place so that I could take that place as a place for praying (mosque). He said, Allah willing, I shall do that. Next day Allah's Apostle along with Abu Bakr, came to my house after the sun had risen high and he asked permission to enter. I gave him permission, but he didn't sit till he said to me, Where do you want me to pray in your house? I pointed to a place in the house where I wanted him to pray. So he stood up for the prayer and we aligned behind him. He completed the prayer with Taslim and we did the same simultaneously.
حضرت محمود بن ربیع ؓ ہی سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے کہا میں نے حضرت عتبان بن مالک ؓ سے سنا جو بنو سالم قبیلے کے ایک فرد تھے، انہوں نے فرمایا: میں اپنی قوم بنو سالم کو نماز پڑھاتا تھا، ایک دفعہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر عرض کیا کہ میں اپنی بینائی میں کمزوری محسوس کرتا ہوں اور یہ سیلابوں کا پانی میرے اور میری قوم کی مسجد کے درمیان حائل ہو جاتا ہے، لہٰذا میری خواہش ہے کہ آپ میرے گھر میں کسی جگہ پر نماز پڑھیں تاکہ میں اسے مسجد بناؤں۔ آپﷺ نے فرمایا: ’’میں إن شاءاللہ ایسا کروں گا۔‘‘ چنانچہ ایک دن دھوپ چڑھے رسول اللہ ﷺ حضرت ابوبکر ؓ کی معیت میں تشریف لائے، آپ نے اندر آنے کی اجازت مانگی تو میں نے آپ کو اجازت دے دی۔ آپ نے بیٹھنے سے پہلے ہی فرمایا: ’’تم گھر کے کس حصے میں میرا نماز پڑھنا پسند کرتے ہو؟‘‘ انہوں نے ایک مقام کی طرف اشارہ کیا جہاں وہ اپنے لیے نماز پڑھنا پسند کرتے تھے۔ اس کے بعد رسول اللہ ﷺ کھڑے ہو گئے اور ہم لوگوں نے بھی آپ کے پیچھے صف بنا لی۔ اس کے بعد آپ نے سلام پھیرا اور ہم نے بھی آپ کے ساتھ سلام پھیر دیا۔
Hazrat Mahmood bin Rabi (Radiyallahu Anhu) hi se riwayat hai, unhon ne kaha mein ne Hazrat Itban bin Malik (Radiyallahu Anhu) se suna jo Banu Salim qabile ke ek fard thay, unhon ne farmaya: Mein apni qaum Banu Salim ko namaz parhata tha, ek dafa mein ne Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki khidmat mein hazir ho kar arz kiya ke mein apni binayi mein kamzori mahsoos karta hoon aur yeh sailabon ka pani mere aur meri qaum ki masjid ke darmiyan hail ho jata hai, lehaza meri khwahish hai ke aap mere ghar mein kisi jagah par namaz parhein taake mein ise masjid banaon. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: ''Mein Insha Allah aisa karoon ga.'' Chunanche ek dan dhoop charhe Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Hazrat Abubakar (Radiyallahu Anhu) ki maiyyat mein tashreef laye, aap ne andar aane ki ijazat mangi to mein ne aap ko ijazat de di. Aap ne baithne se pehle hi farmaya: ''Tum ghar ke kis hisse mein mera namaz parhna pasand karte ho?'' Unhon ne ek maqam ki taraf ishara kiya jahan wo apne liye namaz parhna pasand karte thay. Is ke baad Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) khare ho gaye aur hum logon ne bhi aap ke peeche saff bana li. Is ke baad aap ne salam phera aur hum ne bhi aap ke sath salam pher diya.
قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عِتْبَانَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصارِيَّ ، ثُمَّ أَحَدَ بَنِي سَالِمٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي لِقَوْمِي بَنِي سَالِمٍ ، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنِّي أَنْكَرْتُ بَصَرِي وَإِنَّ السُّيُولَ تَحُولُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ مَسْجِدِ قَوْمِي ، فَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّكَ جِئْتَ فَصَلَّيْتَ فِي بَيْتِي مَكَانًا حَتَّى أَتَّخِذَهُ مَسْجِدًا ، فَقَالَ : أَفْعَلُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، فَغَدَا عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ مَعَهُ بَعْدَ مَا اشْتَدَّ النَّهَارُ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَذِنْتُ لَهُ فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى ، قَالَ : أَيْنَ تُحِبُّ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ مِنْ بَيْتِكَ ؟ فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ فِيهِ ، فَقَامَ فَصَفَفْنَا خَلْفَهُ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ وَسَلَّمْنَا حِينَ سَلَّمَ .
