Hazifa, may Allah be pleased with him, said to his wife: "Rinse your hair with water before the fire enters it." - (Al-Baqiya wa Al-Baqaya min Al-Ibqa' 'Alayh)
سیدنا حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنی بیوی سے کہا: بالوں میں پانی کا خلال کرو، اس سے پہلے کہ اس میں آگ داخل ہو۔ «(البقيا والبقايا من الابقاء عليه)»
Sayyidna Huzaifa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne apni biwi se kaha: balon mein pani ka khilal karo, is se pehle keh is mein aag dakhil ho. «(al-baqia wal-baqaya min al-ibqa'i alaih)».
Jami' bin 'Umair, a member of Banu Taym Allah bin Tha'labah, said: "I went to Lady 'Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, with my mother and aunt. One of them asked her: 'How do you perform Ghusl (ritual bath)?' She replied: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would perform Wudu (ablution) like that for prayer at the time of Ghusl, then he would pour water over his head three times. And we, because of our thick hair, pour water over our heads five times.'"

بنی تیم الله بن ثعلبہ کے ایک فرد جمیع بن عمیر نے کہا کہ میں اپنی ماں اور خالہ کے ساتھ سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے پاس گیا، ان میں سے ایک نے ان سے پوچھا: آپ غسل کس طرح کرتی ہیں؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا: رسول الله ﷺ غسل کے وقت نماز کا سا وضو کرتے تھے، پھر اپنے سر پرتین بار پانی بہاتے، اور ہم چٹیوں کی وجہ سے پانچ بار سر پر پانی ڈالتے ہیں۔
Bani Tamim Allah bin Saalba ke aik fard Jami bin Umair ne kaha ke mein apni maan aur khala ke sath Sayyidah Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ke paas gaya, in mein se aik ne in se poocha: Aap ghusl kis tarah karti hain? Unhon ne jawab diya: Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ghusl ke waqt namaz ka sa wazu karte the, phir apne sar par teen baar pani bahatay, aur hum chattiyon ki wajah se paanch baar sar par pani daalte hain.
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): When a woman performs ghusl, should she undo her hair? She replied, “Get away with you! Would she spend an uqiyya (of gold)?! It is sufficient for her to pour water over her head three times.”

سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ انہوں نے سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا: جو عورت غسل کرتی ہے تو وہ اپنے بال کھول دے گی؟ جواب دیا: «بخ» (ہٹ تیری) کیا وہ ایک اوقیہ خرچ کرے گی؟ ارے اس کے لئے کافی ہے کہ وہ اپنے سر پر تین بار پانی بہائے۔
Sada Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki unhon ne Sayyida Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se poocha: jo aurat ghusl karti hai to woh apne baal khol degi? Jawab diya: «Bukh» (hatt teri) kya woh ek auqiya kharch karegi? Are us ke liye kafi hai ki woh apne sar par teen baar pani bahay.
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), regarding the menstruating woman and the woman who has recently left the state of Janaabah (major ritual impurity) (in the context of Ghusl, ritual bath), that both of them should pour water over their heads and they do not have to undo their braids.

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے حائضہ اور جنبیہ عورت کے (غسل کے) بارے میں مروی ہے کہ وہ دونوں سر پر پانی ڈالیں گی، اور بال نہیں کھولیں گی۔
Sayyidna Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se haiza aur junubiya aurat ke (ghusl ke) bare mein marvi hai ki wo dono sar par pani dalengi, aur baal nahin kholengi.
It is narrated on the authority of Mansur that Imam Ibrahim Nakha'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: When the edges and roots of the hair get wet, she will not undo them (her braids).

منصور سے مروی ہے امام ابراہیم نخعی رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا: جب زلفوں کے کنارے اور جڑ بھیگ جائیں تو انہیں نہیں کھولے گی۔
Mansoor se marvi hai Imam Ibrahim Nakhai rehmatullah alaih ne farmaya: Jab zulfon ke kinare aur jar bheeg jayen to unhen nahin kholegi.
It is narrated from Nafi' (the freed slave of Ibn Umar) that the wives and slave women of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) would not undo their braids when they performed the ghusl (ritual bath) from menstruation and sexual impurity.

نافع (مولى ابن عمر) سے مروی ہے کہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کی بیویاں اور لونڈیاں جب غسل حیض و جنابت کرتیں تو چوٹیاں نہیں کھولتی تھیں۔
Nafi (Maula Ibn Umar) se marvi hai ki Sayyidna Ibn Umar Radi Allahu anhuma ki biwiyan aur laundiyan jab ghusl haiz o janabat karti thin to chotiyan nahin kholti thin.
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Women should not undo their braids when performing ghusl from menstruation or sexual impurity."

سیدہ ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا: حیض یا جنابت (کے غسل میں) عورتیں اپنی چوٹی نہیں کھولیں گی۔
Sayyida Umm Salma ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne kaha: Haiz ya Janabat (ke ghusl mein) auratain apni choti nahin kholengi.
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that a woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: I tie my hair in braids on my head. He said: "Pour three handfuls of water on your head, and after pouring each handful, rub it." (Meaning: massage the hair so that the water reaches the roots).

سیدہ ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا زوج النبی ﷺ نے کہا کہ ایک عورت نبی کریم ﷺ کے پاس حاضر ہوئی اور عرض کیا کہ میں سر پر چوٹی کس کر باندھتی ہوں؟ فرمایا: ”اپنے سر پر تین چلو پانی ڈال لو، اور ہر چلو پانی کا ڈالنے کے بعد گوندھو۔“ (یعنی بالوں کو ملو تاکہ پانی جڑوں تک پہنچ جائے)۔
Syeda Umme Salma Raziallahu Anha zauj un nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne kaha keh aik aurat nabi kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas hazir hui aur arz kiya keh mein sar par choti kas kar bandhti hun? Farmaya: apne sar par teen chulu pani daal lo, aur har chulu pani ka daalne ke baad gundho. (yani ballon ko milo taake pani jaron tak pahunch jaye).
Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to his wife: "Soak the hair to the roots, do not put fire in it." Mansur said: "By this, Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) meant Janabah (i.e., wash the hair thoroughly during the Ghusl of Janabah)."

سیدنا حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنی بیوی سے فرمایا: بالوں کو جڑوں تک سیراب کرو، اس میں آگ داخل نہ کرو۔ منصور نے کہا: سیدنا حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی اس سے مراد جنابت ہے (یعنی غسل جنابت کے وقت بال اچھی طرح دھو لو)۔
Sayyidina Huzaifa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne apni biwi se farmaya: Baal ko jaron tak sairab karo, is mein aag dakhil na karo. Mansoor ne kaha: Sayyidina Huzaifa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ki is se murad janabat hai (yani ghusl janabat ke waqt baal achhi tarah dho lo).
It is narrated from Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) through another chain of narration (the translation of which has been mentioned above, with the addition that if even a small amount of water does not reach it, then it will be punished).

سیدنا حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے دوسری سند سے مذکورہ بالا روایت مروی ہے (اوپر اس کا ترجمہ گزر چکا ہے، اس میں یہ اضافہ ہے کہ تھوڑی سی جگہ بھی پانی نہ پہنچا تو اس کو عذاب ہو گا)۔
Sayyidna Huzaifa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se dusri sanad se mazkura bala riwayat marvi hai (upar iska tarjuma guzar chuka hai, isme ye izafa hai ki thori si jagah bhi pani na pahuncha to usko azab ho ga).
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When a woman performs a bath after sexual defilement, she should not undo her hair, but she should pour water on the roots of her hair and wash it.

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: جب عورت غسل جنابت کرے گی تو اپنے بال نہیں کھولے گی، البتہ بالوں کی جڑوں میں پانی ڈال کر دھو دے گی۔
Sayyidina Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne farmaya: Jab aurat ghusl janabat karegi to apne baal nahin kholegi, albatta baalon ki jaron mein pani daal kar dho degi.
It is narrated on the authority of Ata, may Allah have mercy on him, that a woman asked, "If a woman experiences Janabah (major ritual impurity) and her hair is braided, should she undo the braids?" He said, "No, but she should pour water thoroughly over her head so that it reaches the roots of the hair."

عطاء رحمہ اللہ سے مروی ہے، عورت جنبی ہو جائے اور اس کے بال گوندھے ہوئے ہوں تو کیا انہیں کھولے گی؟ فرمایا: نہیں، البتہ اپنے سر پر اچھی طرح پانی ڈالے تاکہ جڑیں تک سیراب ہو جائیں۔
Ata rahmatullah se marvi hai, aurat junubi ho jaye aur uske baal gondhe hue hon to kya unhen kholegi? Farmaya: nahin, albatta apne sar par achhi tarah pani dale takih jarain tak sirab ho jayen.
Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyidah Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said to me: "Is there none among you who can afford to perform vaginal steam after menstruation? If not, then use 'As, and if not that, then at least some kernels or salt."

عمرۃ بنت حیان سہميۃ نے کہا: مجھ سے ام المومنین سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے فرمایا: کیا تم میں سے کوئی حیض سے پاک ہونے کے بعد قسط کی دھونی لینے کی استطاعت نہیں رکھتی؟ اس کی استطاعت نہ ہو تو ”آس“، اس کی بھی استطاعت نہ ہو تو کچھ گٹھلیوں سے یا پھر نمک ہی سے دھونی لے لے۔
Umarah binat Hayan Suhaimiya ne kaha: mujh se Umm ul Momineen Sayyidah Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne farmaya: kya tum mein se koi haiz se pak hone ke baad qist ki dhoni lene ki istataat nahin rakhti? Is ki istataat na ho to "aas", is ki bhi istataat na ho to kuchh ghuthliyon se ya phir namak hi se dhoni le le.
Sayyida Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: When a woman has taken a bath after menstruation, she should apply perfume to the place of bleeding (i.e. put something fragrant there).

سیدہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے فرمایا: جب عورت غسل حیض کر لے تو خون کی جگہ پر طیب رکھ لے۔ (یعنی خوشبو کی کوئی چیز وہاں رکھ لے)۔
Syeda Ayesha Raziallahu Anha ne farmaya: Jab aurat ghusl haiz kar le to khoon ki jaga par tyab rakh le. (yani khushbu ki koi cheez wahan rakh le).
Nafi' narrated that the wives and slave girls of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) would not undo their hair when taking a bath from menstruation or sexual impurity, but they would be thorough in pouring water over their heads (so that the roots would be well saturated and the water would reach them).

نافع نے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت کیا کہ ان کی بیویاں اور لونڈیاں جب حیض و جنابت کا غسل کرتی تھیں تو اپنے بال نہیں کھولتی تھیں، لیکن پانی بہانے میں مبالغہ کرتی تھیں۔ (تاکہ جڑیں اچھی طرح سیراب ہو جائیں اور ان تک پانی پہنچ جائے)۔
Nafey nay Sayyidna Ibn Umar Radi Allaho Anhuma se riwayat kya ke un ki biwiyan aur laundiyan jab haiz o janabat ka ghusl karti thin to apne baal nahi kholti thin, lekin pani bahane mein mubalgha karti thin. (Taake jarain achi tarah se raab ho jayain aur un tak pani pohanch jaye).
