Chapter on the dislike of raising the eyes to the sky during prayer

باب: كراهية رفع البصر إلى السماء في الصلاة

Sunan al-Darimi 1337

Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque and saw the people looking up at the sky while praying. He said, "Refrain from this, or your eyesight will be snatched away."


Grade: Sahih

سیدنا جابر بن سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ مسجد میں داخل ہوئے، لوگوں کو نماز میں آسمان کی طرف نظریں اٹھائے دیکھا تو فرمایا: ”تم اس سے باز آ جاؤ ورنہ تمہاری آنکھوں سے بنائی جاتی رہے گی۔“

Sayyidna Jabir bin Samurah RA ne kaha: Nabi Kareem SAW masjid mein daakhil huye, logon ko namaz mein aasman ki taraf nazrein uthaye dekha to farmaya: "Tum is se baaz aa jao warna tumhari aankhon se banai jati rahegi."

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ خَلِيلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، أَنْبأَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَقَدْ رَفَعُوا أَبْصَارَهُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، فَقَالَ: "لَتَنْتَهُنَّ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْكُمْ أَبْصَارُكُمْ".

Sunan al-Darimi 1338

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "What is wrong with the people who raise their eyes towards the sky while praying?". He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade them from doing so with such severity that he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You people must stop doing this, or else Allah will snatch away your eyesight.".


Grade: Sahih

سیدنا انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے روایت کیا کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”کیا بات ہے جو لوگ نماز میں اپنی نظریں آسمان کی طرف اٹھاتے ہیں“، آپ ﷺ نے انہیں نہایت سختی سے روکا یہاں تک کہ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”تم اس حرکت سے باز آ جاؤ گے ورنہ اللہ تعالیٰ تمہاری بینائی اچک لے گا۔“

Sayyidna Anas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne riwayat kiya keh Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Kya baat hai jo log namaz mein apni nazrein aasman ki taraf uthate hain“, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhein nihayat sakhti se roka yahan tak keh Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Tum is harkat se baaz aa jaoge warna Allah Ta'ala tumhari beenayi uchak le ga”.

أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ، قَالَ: "مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ؟"فَاشْتَدَّ قَوْلُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ حَتَّى قَالَ:"لَتَنْتَهُنَّ عَنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ لَيَخْطَفَنَّ اللَّهُ أَبْصَارَكُمْ".
