Chapter on entering the mosque on Friday while the Imam is delivering the sermon

باب فيمن دخل المسجد يوم الجمعة والإمام يخطب

Sunan al-Darimi 1590

Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When one of you enters the mosque and the Imam is delivering the Khutbah or has come out for it, then he should pray two rak'ahs (of prayer)."

Grade: Sahih

سیدنا جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص (مسجد میں) آئے اور امام خطبہ دے رہا ہو یا خطبہ کے لئے نکل چکا ہو تو اسے دو رکعت نماز پڑھ لینی چاہیے۔“

Sayyidana Jabir bin Abdullah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a bayan karte hain: Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Jab tum mein se koi shakhs (masjid mein) aaye aur Imam khutba de raha ho ya khutba ke liye nikal chuka ho to use do rakat namaz parh leni chahiye.".

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ , قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ أَوْ قَدْ خَرَجَ، فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ".

Sunan al-Darimi 1591

Uyayd bin Abdullah said: Abu Said Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, came while Marwan was delivering a sermon. Abu Said, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up to pray, so Marwan's soldiers came to stop him from praying. Abu Said, may Allah be pleased with him, said: I will not abandon these two rak'ahs because I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ordering it.

عیاض بن عبداللہ نے کہا: سیدنا ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ آئے اس وقت مروان خطبہ دے رہے تھے، سیدنا ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھنے لگے تو مروان کے سپاہی آ کر انہیں نماز پڑھنے سے روکنے لگے، تو سیدنا ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: میں ان دو رکعت کو ترک نہیں کروں گا کیونکہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو دیکھا آپ ﷺ اس کا حکم دیتے تھے۔

أَخْبَرَنَا صَدَقَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: جَاءَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ وَمَرْوَانُ يَخْطُبُ، "فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَأَتَاهُ الْحَرَسُ يَمْنَعُونَهُ، فَقَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ أَتْرُكُهُمَا وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ بِهِمَا".

Sunan al-Darimi 1592

Rabie’ bin Sabih Basri said: I saw Imam Hasan Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, praying two rak'ahs during the Khutbah, and he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the Imam is delivering the Khutbah and one of you enters the Masjid, then let him pray two light rak'ahs (Tahiyyatul-Masjid), and let him be brief in them." Imam Darimi, may Allah have mercy on him, said: And this is my opinion as well.

Grade: Hasan

ربیع بن صبیح بصری نے کہا: میں نے خطبہ کے دوران امام حسن بصری رحمہ اللہ کو دو رکعت پڑھتے دیکھا، اور انہوں نے کہا: رسول الله ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جب امام خطبہ دے رہا ہو اورتم میں سے کوئی مسجد میں داخل ہو تو وہ دو ہلکی رکعت (تحیۃ المسجد) پڑھ لے، ان میں اختصار سے کام لے۔“ امام دارمی رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا: میرا بھی یہی قول ہے۔

Rabi bin Sabih Basri ne kaha: mein ne khutba ke doran Imam Hasan Basri rehmatullah alaih ko do rakat parhte dekha, aur unhon ne kaha: Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Jab imam khutba de raha ho aur tum mein se koi masjid mein dakhil ho to woh do halki rakat (tahiyyatul masjid) parh le, in mein ikhtisar se kaam le." Imam Darmi rehmatullah alaih ne farmaya: mera bhi yahi qaul hai.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ الرَّبِيعِ هُوَ ابْنُ صَبِيحٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ"يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ". وَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ، فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ يَتَجَوَّزُ فِيهِمَا". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد: أَقُولُ بِهِ.
