كِتَابُ الزَّكَاةِ

The chapter on the virtue of the one who gives charity over the one who receives it.

بَابُ فَضْلِ الْمُتَصَدِّقِ عَلَى الْمُتَصَدَّقِ عَلَيْهِ

Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2435

Narrated Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The hands (of people) are of three kinds: The hand of Allah (i.e., Allah's Bounty) is the upper hand (i.e., the bestower). Then comes the hand of the person who gives in charity, (which is) next; and then is the hand which is stretched out to beg, (and which will remain stretched) down till the Day of Resurrection. So, avoid begging as far as possible." In the narration of Abu Al-Ahwas: What follows this is, "So, avoid, avoid begging as far as possible." These are the words of Ibn Bandar's Hadith.

سیدنا عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ہاتھ تین قسم کے ہیں، اللہ تعالیٰ کا ہاتھ بلند و برتر ہے۔ اس کے بعد صدقہ دینے والے کا ہاتھ ہے۔ اور سوال کرنے والے کا ہاتھ قیامت تک نیچے ہے لہذا تم حسب طاقت سوال کرنے سے بچو “ جناب ابو الاحوص کی روایت میں ہے کہ جو اس کے بعد ہے اور کہا، لہٰذا تم مانگنے سے بچو حتّیٰ الوسع بچو۔ یہ جناب بندار کی حدیث کے الفاظ ہیں۔

Sayyidna Abdullah Raziallahu Anhu Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam se riwayat karte hain ki aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya Hath teen qisam ke hain Allah Ta'ala ka hath buland o bartar hai iske baad sadqa dene wale ka hath hai aur sawal karne wale ka hath qayamat tak neeche hai lihaza tum hasb-e-taqat sawal karne se bacho Janab Abu Alhous ki riwayat mein hai ki jo iske baad hai aur kaha lihaza tum mangne se bacho hatta alwasa bacho ye Janab Bandar ki hadith ke alfaz hain

حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْهَجَرِيِّ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْهَجَرِيِّ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " الأَيْدِي الثَّلاثَةُ: يَدُ اللَّهِ الْعُلْيَا، وَيَدُ الْمُعْطِي الَّتِي تَلِيَهَا، وَيَدُ السَّائِلِ السُّفْلَى إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ، فَاسْتَعِفَّ عَنِ السُّؤَالِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتَ" ، قَالَ يُوسُفُ: عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ، وَقَالَ: الَّتِي تَلِيَهَا، وَقَالَ: فَاسْتَعِفُّوا عَنِ السُّؤَالِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ، هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ بُنْدَارٍ

Our master Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: "The best charity is that which leaves one with wealth and well-being, and the upper hand (the giver) is better than the lower hand (the receiver), and begin charity with those whose expenses are your responsibility. Your wife says to you, 'Either spend on me or divorce me.' Your slave says, 'Either spend on me or sell me.' And your child says, 'To whom are you leaving me?'"


Grade: Sahih

سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ آپ نے فرمایا: ”بہترین صدقہ وہ ہے جس سے خوشحالی اور مالداری باقی رہے اور اوپر والا ہاتھ (صدقہ کرنے والا) نیچے والے ہاتھ (صدقہ لینے والے) سے بہتر ہے اور صدقہ دینا اُن لوگوں سے شروع کرجن کا خرچہ تیرے ذمے ہے۔ تمھاری بیوی کہتی ہے کہ مجھ پرخرچ کرو یا مجھے طلاق دے دو۔ تمھارا غلام بھی کہتا ہے کہ مجھ پر خرچ کرو یا مجھے بیچ دو اور تمھارا بیٹا کہتا ہے کہ مجھے کس کے سپرد کرتے ہو؟“

Sayyidna Abu Hurairah Raziallahu Anhu Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam se riwayat karte hain keh aap ne farmaya: Behtarin sadqah woh hai jisse khushhali aur maldari baqi rahe aur upar wala haath (sadqah karne wala) neeche wale haath (sadqah lene wale) se behtar hai aur sadqah dena un logon se shuru kar jin ka kharcha tere zimme hai. Tumhari biwi kehti hai keh mujh par kharch karo ya mujhe talaq de do. Tumhara ghulam bhi kehta hai keh mujh par kharch karo ya mujhe bech do aur tumhara beta kehta hai keh mujhe kis ke supurd karte ho?

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ: " خَيْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ مَا أَبْقَتْ غَنَاءً، وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى، وَابْدَأْ مَنْ تَعُولُ، تَقُولُ امْرَأَتُكَ: أَنْفِقْ عَلَيَّ أَوْ طَلِّقْنِي، وَيَقُولُ مَمْلُوكُكَ: أَنْفِقْ عَلَيَّ أَوْ بِعْنِي، وَيَقُولُ وَلَدُكَ: إِلَى مَنْ تَكِلُنَا"
