Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1380
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that during the blessed era of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), on a very hot day, there was a solar eclipse. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led his companions in prayer and prolonged the standing (Qiyaam) to such an extent that the Companions started falling down. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went into bowing (Ruku') and prolonged it as well. After lifting his head from bowing, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood for a long time again and then performed two prostrations (Sajdah). Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up and prolonged the standing like the first time. In this manner, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed four bowings and four prostrations. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Indeed, I have been shown everything that you have been promised." Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated the complete Hadith and said, "Indeed, the Arabs used to say that the solar and lunar eclipses occur due to the death of a great and noble person. Verily, these are two signs among the signs of Allah, which He shows you. Therefore, when you see them, offer prayer until they become clear and bright."

سیدنا جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے عہد مبارک میں ایک شدید گرمی والے دن سورج کر گرہن لگ گیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے ساتھیوں کو نماز پڑھائی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے (اس قدر) طویل قیام کیا کہ صحابہ کرام گرنے لگے پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے رکوع کیا تو لمبا رکوع کیا۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے رکوع سے سر اُٹھانے کے بعد طویل قیام کیا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو سجدے کیے۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے تو پہلے کی طرح (طویل قیام) کیا۔ اس طرح آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے چار رکوع اور چار سجدے ادا کیے، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”بلاشبہ مجھے ہر وہ چیز دکھائی گئی جس کا تم سے وعدہ کیا گیا ہے۔“ پھر مکمّل حدیث بیان کی اور فرمایا: ”بیشک عرب کے لوگ کہا کرتے تھے کہ سورج اور چاند گرہن کسی عظیم اور بڑے شخص کی وفات کی وجہ سے لگتا ہے اور بیشک یہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں، جو وہ تمہیں دکھاتا ہے، لہٰذا جب ان دونوں کو گرہن لگے تو تم نماز پڑھو حتّیٰ کہ وہ صاف اور روشن ہو جائے۔“
Sayyidna Jabir bin Abdullah Radi Allahu Anhu bayan karte hain ke Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ke ahd mubarak mein ek shadeed garmi wale din sooraj kura grahan lag gaya to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne apne sathiyon ko namaz parhayi to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne (is qadar) tawil qayam kiya ke sahaba karam girne lage phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne ruku kiya to lamba ruku kiya. Phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne ruku se sar uthane ke baad tawil qayam kiya, phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne do sajde kiye. Phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam kharay huye to pehle ki tarah (tawil qayam) kiya. Is tarah aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne chaar ruku aur chaar sajde ada kiye, phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Bilashuba mujhe har woh cheez dikhayi gayi jis ka tum se waada kiya gaya hai." Phir mukammal hadees bayan ki aur farmaya: "Beshak Arab ke log kaha karte thay ke sooraj aur chand grahan kisi azeem aur bare shakhs ki wafat ki wajah se lagta hai aur beshak ye Allah Ta'ala ki nishaniyon mein se do nishaniyan hain, jo woh tumhe dikhaata hai, lihaza jab in donon ko grahan lage to tum namaz parho hatta ke woh saaf aur roshan ho jaye."
يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ: وَكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي يَوْمٍ شَدِيدِ الْحَرِّ، فَصَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ، فَأَطَالَ الْقِيَامَ حَتَّى جَعَلُوا يَخِرُّونَ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَأَطَالَ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَأَطَالَ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَنَعَ نَحْوًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ، فَكَانَتْ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَأَرْبَعَ سَجَدَاتٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" إِنَّهُ عُرِضَ عَلَيَّ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ تُوعَدُونَهُ"، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِطُولِهِ، وَقَالَ:" وَإِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ: إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لا يَنْكَسِفَانِ إِلا لِمَوْتِ عَظِيمٍ، وَإِنَّهُمَا آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ يُرِيكُمُوهَا، فَإِذَا خَسَفَا فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ"
