Chapter on Mentioning the Explanation for Why the Prophet (peace be upon him) Brought a Staff to the Prayer Place,
بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْخَبَرِ الْمُفَسِّرُ لِلْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُخْرِجُ الْعَنَزَةَ إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى،

Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1435
Sayyidina Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to go to the Eid prayer ground (on the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha) with a spear. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would stick it in front of him while leading the prayer and would face towards it while praying. The reason for this was that there was no building in the Eid prayer ground to be used as a sutrah (object placed in front of a person praying).

سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عید الفطر اور عید الضحیٰ والے دن ایک بر چھی ساتھ لیکر (عید گاہ میں) جاتے تھے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نماز پڑھاتے وقت اُسے اپنے سامنے گاڑ لیتے تھے۔ اور اُس کی طرف مُنہ کر کے نماز پڑھتے تھے۔ اس کا سبب یہ تھا کہ عیدگاہ میں کوئی عمارت نہیں تھی کہ جسے سُترہ بنا کر نماز پڑھی جائے۔
Sayyidina Abdullah bin Umar Radi Allahu Anhuma bayan karte hain keh Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Eid-ul-Fitr aur Eid-ul-Adha wale din ek burchhi sath lekar (Eidgah mein) jate thay, Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Namaz parhate waqt use apne samne gaarh lete thay. Aur us ki taraf munh kar ke Namaz parhte thay. Is ka sabab yeh tha ke Eidgah mein koi imarat nahi thi keh jise sutra bana kar Namaz parhi jaye.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُزَيْرٍ الأَيْلِيُّ ، أَنَّ سَلامَةَ حَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى فِي الأَضْحَى وَالْفِطْرِ خَرَجَ بِالْعَنَزَةِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى تُرْكَزَ فِي الْمُصَلَّى فَيُصَلِّي إِلَيْهَا، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الْمُصَلَّى كَانَ فَضَاءً لَيْسَ فِيهِ شَيْءٌ مَبْنِيٌّ يَسْتَتِرُ بِهِ"
