Chapter: Clarifying the time for ending the fast and the end of the day
١٠
باب بَيَانِ وَقْتِ انْقِضَاءِ الصَّوْمِ وَخُرُوجِ النَّهَارِ
Sahih Muslim 1101b
Abdullah bin Abi Aufa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that they were with the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) on a journey. When the sun had sunk, he said to a person, get down and prepare barley meal for us. Upon this he said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), let there be dusk. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, get down and prepare barley meal for us. He (the person) said, there is still (the light of) day upon us. (But) he got down (in obedience) and prepared a barley meal for him and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) drank that (liquid meal) and then said, when you see the night approaching from that side (west) (and he pointed towards the east with his hand), then the observer of the fast should break it.
حضرت عبداللہ بن اوفیٰ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ہم ایک سفر میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ تھے جب سورج غروب ہو گیا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نےایک آدمی سے کہا: ”اتر کر ہمارے لیے ستو تیار کر۔“ تو اس نے کہا: اے اللہ کے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! اے کاش آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم شام کریں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اتر کر ہمارے لیے ستو گھول۔“ اس نے کہا: ابھی ہمارے سر پردن باقی ہے پھر وہ اترا اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے لیے ستو بھگوئے تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پیے پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب تم دیکھو رات ادھر سے آ گئی ہے (اور آپ نے اپنے ہاتھ سے مشرق کی طرف اشارہ کیا) تو روزے دار افطار کے وقت میں داخل ہو گیا۔“
Hazrat Abdullah bin Awfa (Raziallahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke hum ek safar mein Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ke sath the jab sooraj gharoob ho gaya to aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne ek aadmi se kaha: "Utar kar hamare liye sattu tayar kar." To usne kaha: Aye Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)! Aye kaash aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) sham karen. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne farmaya: "Utar kar hamare liye sattu ghol." Usne kaha: Abhi hamare sar par din baqi hai phir woh utara aur aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ke liye sattu bhigoye to aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne piye phir aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne farmaya: "Jab tum dekho raat idhar se aa gayi hai (aur aap ne apney hath se mashriq ki taraf ishara kiya) to rozedar iftar ke waqt mein dakhil ho gaya."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، وَعَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى، - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي سَفَرٍ فَلَمَّا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ " انْزِلْ فَاجْدَحْ لَنَا " . فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ أَمْسَيْتَ . قَالَ " انْزِلْ فَاجْدَحْ لَنَا " . قَالَ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا نَهَارًا . فَنَزَلَ فَجَدَحَ لَهُ فَشَرِبَ ثُمَّ قَالَ " إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ اللَّيْلَ قَدْ أَقْبَلَ مِنْ هَا هُنَا - وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ - فَقَدْ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ " .
