Chapter: The prayer and the supplication of the Prophet (saws) at night

باب الدُّعَاءِ فِي صَلاَةِ اللَّيْلِ وَقِيَامِهِ
Sahih Muslim 763i
Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that he spent a night in the house of his mother's sister, Ummul Momineen Maimuna (رضي الله تعالى عنها), and then narrated (the rest of the) Hadith, but he made no mention of the washing of his face and two hands but he only said, ‘he then came to the water-skin and loosened its straps and performed ablution between the two extremes, and then came to his bed and slept. He then got up for the second time and came to the water-skin and loosened its straps and then performed ablution which was in fact an ablution (performed well), and implored (the Lord) thus, ِأَعْظِمْ لًاي نُور [Give me abundant light], and he made no mention of ‘make me light.
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں، کہ میں نے اپنی خالہ میمونہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے ہاں رات گزاری، پھر حدیث بیان کی لیکن اس میں چہرے اور ہتھیلیاں دھونے کا ذکر نہیں ہے، ہاں، یہ کہا: پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مشک کے پاس آئے، اس کا بندھن کھولا، اور دو وضووں کے درمیان کا وضوکیا پھر بستر پر آئے اور سو گئے پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم دوبارہ اٹھے اورمشک کے پاس آئے، اس کا بندھن کھولا، پھر دوبارہ وضو کیا جو (صحیح معنی میں) وضوتھا اور کہا: ”میرا نور عظیم کر دے“ اور یہ روایت نہیں کیا کہ مجھے سراپا نور کر دے۔
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhuma) bayan karte hain, ke mein ne apni khala Maimoonah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha) ke haan raat guzari, phir hadith bayan ki lekin is mein chehre aur hatheliyan dhone ka zikr nahi hai, haan, ye kaha: phir Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) mashk ke paas aaye, is ka bandhan khola, aur do wudhu'on ke darmiyan ka wudhu kiya phir bistar par aaye aur so gaye phir Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) dobara uthe aur mashk ke paas aaye, is ka bandhan khola, phir dobara wudhu kiya jo (sahih maani mein) wudhu tha aur kaha: "Mera noor azeem kar de" aur ye riwayat nahi kiya ke mujhe sarapa noor kar de.
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَهَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رِشْدِينٍ، مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ بِتُّ عِنْدَ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ . وَاقْتَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ غَسْلَ الْوَجْهِ وَالْكَفَّيْنِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَتَى الْقِرْبَةَ فَحَلَّ شِنَاقَهَا فَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا بَيْنَ الْوُضُوءَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَتَى فِرَاشَهُ فَنَامَ ثُمَّ قَامَ قَوْمَةً أُخْرَى فَأَتَى الْقِرْبَةَ فَحَلَّ شِنَاقَهَا ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا هُوَ الْوُضُوءُ وَقَالَ " أَعْظِمْ لِي نُورًا " . وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ " وَاجْعَلْنِي نُورًا " .
