Sunan an-Nasa'i 782
It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : "when there are three people let one of them lead the prayer, and the one who is most entitled to lead the prayer is the one who has most knowledge of the Qur'an."

ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا: جب تین شخص ہوں تو ان میں سے ایک کو امامت کرنی چاہیئے، اور ان میں امامت کا زیادہ حقدار وہ ہے جسے قرآن زیادہ یاد ہو ۔
Abu Saeed Khudri (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Jab teen shakhs hon to un mein se ek ko imamat karni chahiye, aur un mein imamat ka ziyada haqdar woh hai jise Quran ziyada yaad ho.
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " إِذَا كَانُوا ثَلاَثَةً فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَحَدُهُمْ وَأَحَقُّهُمْ بِالإِمَامَةِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ " .
