Al-Mu'jam al-Saghir 1028
Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a man asked: “O Messenger of Allah, which person is the best?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, “The one whose life is long and whose deeds are good.” The man asked, “And who is the worst?” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, “The one whose life is long and whose deeds are evil.”

سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: ایک آدمی نے کہا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! کونسا آدمی سب سے بہتر ہے؟ تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جس کی عمر لمبی ہو اور عمل اچھا ہو۔“ اس نے کہا: اور برا کون ہے؟ فرمایا: ”جس کی عمر لمبی ہو اور عمل برا ہو۔“
Sayyidna Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kahte hain: Ek aadmi ne kaha: Ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! Kaun sa aadmi sab se behtar hai? To Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Jis ki umr lambi ho aur amal achha ho." Usne kaha: Aur bura kaun hai? Farmaya: "Jis ki umr lambi ho aur amal bura ho."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الأَعْلَمُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلامٍ الْجُمَحِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، وَحُمَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،"أَيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ؟، قَالَ: مَنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ، وَحَسُنَ عَمَلُهُ، قَالَ: وَأَيُّ النَّاسِ شَرٌّ، قَالَ: مَنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ وَسَاءَ عَمَلُهُ"، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ يُونُسَ، إِلا حَمَّادٌ
