Book of Oaths, Vows, and Expiations

كِتَابُ الْأَيْمَانِ وَالنُّذُورِ وَالْكَفَّارَاتِ
Regarding a man swearing by something other than Allah or by his father
الرَّجُلُ يَحْلِفُ بِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ أَوْ بِأَبِيهِ
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 12283
Hazrat Ka'b said: "Indeed, you people commit shirk." People asked, "O Abu Ishaq! How?" He replied, "People swear by saying, 'By my father,' 'By your father,' 'By my life,' 'By your life,' 'By the sanctity of the mosque,' 'By Islam,' and other similar oaths (all of these are shirk)."
حضرت کعب نے فرمایا بیشک تم لوگ شرک کرتے ہو، لوگوں نے عرض کیا اے ابو اسحاق ! کیسے ؟ آپ نے فرمایا : لوگ قسمیں اٹھاتے ہیں میرے باپ کی قسم، تیرے باپ کی قسم، میری زندگی اور عمر کی قسم، تیری زندگی کی قسم، مسجد کی حرمت کی قسم، اسلام کی قسم اور اس کے مشابہہ دوسری قسمیں (یہ سب شرک ہی تو ہے) ۔
Hazrat Kaab ne farmaya beshak tum log shirk karte ho, logon ne arz kiya ae abu ishaq! kaise? Aap ne farmaya: log qasmein uthate hain mere baap ki qasam, tere baap ki qasam, meri zindagi aur umar ki qasam, teri zindagi ki qasam, masjid ki hurmat ki qasam, islam ki qasam aur is ke mushabeha dusri qasmein (ye sab shirk hi to hai).
ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ كَعْبٌ : « إِنَّكُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ »، قَالُوا : كَيْفَ يَا أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ ؟ قَالَ : « يَحْلِفُ الرَّجُلُ لَا وَأَبِي ، لَا وَأَبِيكَ ، لَا لَعَمْرِي ، لَا وَحَيَاتِكَ ، لَا وَحُرْمَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، لَا وَالْإِسْلَامِ ، وَأَشْبَاهِهِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ »
