What Was Said About the Death of the Prophet ﷺ

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 37021
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away, Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was in a corner of Madinah. Then you (Hazrat Ibn Umar) came and entered upon the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was covered. And you (Hazrat Ibn Umar) put your face on his (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forehead and kissed him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and started crying and said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you. You were fragrant in life and you are fragrant in death." Then when Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came out, he passed by Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). He (Umar) was saying, "The Messenger of Allah has not died and you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will not die until Allah Almighty puts the hypocrites to death and until Allah Almighty humiliates the hypocrites." The narrator says: The hypocrites were happy because of the death of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so they raised their heads. Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O man! Wait (be quiet) because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has passed away. Have you not heard the decree of Allah Almighty: {Verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) will die, and verily, they (too) will die.} And the divine decree is: {And We granted not to any human being before you (O Muhammad SAW) eternal life on earth, so if you die, would they be eternal?} " Then Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the pulpit and ascended it. He praised and glorified Allah and then said, "O people! If Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was your god whom you used to worship, then know that your god Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has passed away. And if your god is the One Who is in the heavens, then believe that your god has not died." Then Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: {Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)?} Until you (Hazrat Abu Bakr) completed this verse. Then you (Hazrat Abu Bakr) came down and (now) the Muslims were pleased with these words and they were very happy and the hypocrites were troubled. Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "By the One in Whose grip is my life! It was as if there were veils on our faces which were removed."
حضرت ابن عمر سے روایت ہے کہ جب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی روح مبارک قبض ہوئی تو (اس وقت) حضرت ابوبکر ، مدینہ کے گوشہ میں تھے پھر آپ تشریف لائے اور رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے پاس داخل ہوئے جبکہ آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو ڈھکا ہوا تھا۔ اور انھوں نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی پیشانی پر اپنا منہ رکھا اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو بوسہ دے کر رونا شروع کردیا اور کہنے لگے۔ میرے ماں باپ آپ پر قربان ہوں۔ آپ زندگی میں بھی خوشبودار تھے اور مر کر بھی خوشبودار ہیں۔ پھر جب حضرت ابوبکر (وہاں سے) نکلے تو ان کا گزر عمر بن خطاب سے ہوا۔ وہ کہہ رہے تھے۔ اللہ کے رسول کو موت نہیں آئی اور آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو موت نہیں آئے گی حتی کہ اللہ تعالیٰ منافقوں کو موت دے دے اور یہاں تک کہ اللہ تعالیٰ منافقوں کو رسوا کر دے۔ راوی کہتے ہیں : رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی موت کی وجہ سے (منافقین نے) خوشی محسوس کی تھی چنانچہ انھوں نے اپنے سر اٹھا لیے تھے۔ حضرت ابوبکر نے کہا۔ اے آدمی ! ٹھہرو (ذرا چپ کرو) کیونکہ اللہ کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) وفات پا گئے ہیں۔ کیا تم نے اللہ تعالیٰ کا یہ فرمان نہیں سُنا۔ {إِنَّک مَیِّتٌ ، وَإِنَّہُمْ مَیِّتُونَ } اور ارشاد خداوندی ہے۔ { وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِنْ قَبْلِکَ الْخُلْدَ ، أَفَإِنْ مِتَّ فَہُمُ الْخَالِدُونَ }۔ پھر حضرت ابوبکر منبر کے پاس آئے اور اس پر چڑھ گئے۔ اللہ کی حمد و ثنا بیان کی اور پھر فرمایا اے لوگو ! اگر تو محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تمہارے الہٰ تھے جس کی تم عبادت کرتے تھے تو یقین جانو کہ تمہارے الہٰ محمد (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) وفات پا گئے ہیں۔ اور اگر تمہارا الہٰ وہ ذات ہے جو آسمانوں میں ہے تو پھر یقین کرو کہ تمہارا الہٰ نہیں مرا۔ پھر حضرت ابوبکر نے یہ آیت تلاوت کی۔ { وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلاَّ رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِہِ الرُّسُلُ ، أَفَإِنْ مَاتَ ، أَوْ قُتِلَ انْقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَی أَعْقَابِکُمْ } ۔ یہاں تک کہ آپ نے یہ آیت مکمل فرما دی۔ پھر آپ نیچے تشریف لے آئے اور (اب) ان باتوں سے مسلمانوں نے خوشی محسوس کی اور یہ خوب خوش ہوئے اور منافقین کو مصیبت پڑگئی۔ حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر کا ارشاد ہے۔ اس ذات کی قسم ! جس کے قبضہ میں میری جان ہے۔ یوں لگتا تھا جیسا کہ ہمارے چہروں پر پردے تھے جو ہٹا دیئے گئے۔
Hazrat Ibn Umar se riwayat hai ki jab Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki rooh mubarak qabz hui to (us waqt) Hazrat Abubakar, Madinah ke goshay mein thay phir aap tashreef laaye aur Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke paas dakhil huye jabke aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko dhaka hua tha. Aur unhon ne aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki peshani par apna munh rakha aur aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko bosa de kar rona shuru kar diya aur kehne lage. Mere maan baap aap par qurban hon. Aap zindagi mein bhi khushbudar thay aur mar kar bhi khushbudar hain. Phir jab Hazrat Abubakar (wahan se) nikle to unka guzar Umar bin Khattab se hua. Woh keh rahe thay. Allah ke Rasool ko mout nahin aayi aur aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko mout nahin aayegi hatta ki Allah Taala munafiqon ko mout de de aur yahan tak ki Allah Taala munafiqon ko ruswa kar de. Rawi kehte hain: Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki mout ki wajah se (munafiqeen ne) khushi mehsoos ki thi chunancha unhon ne apne sar utha liye thay. Hazrat Abubakar ne kaha. Aye aadmi! Thehro (zara chup karo) kyunki Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) wafaat pa gaye hain. Kya tum ne Allah Taala ka yeh farmaan nahin suna. {Innaka Mayyitun, Wa Innahum Mayyitoon} aur irshad khudawandi hai. {Wa Ma Jaalna Li Basharin Min Qablikal Khulda, Afa In Mitta Fahumal Khalidoon}. Phir Hazrat Abubakar mimbar ke paas aaye aur is par chad gaye. Allah ki hamd o sana bayan ki aur phir farmaya aye logo! Agar to Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) tumhare ilaah thay jiski tum ibadat karte thay to yaqeen jaano ki tumhare ilaah Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) wafaat pa gaye hain. Aur agar tumhara ilaah woh zaat hai jo aasmanon mein hai to phir yaqeen karo ki tumhara ilaah nahin mara. Phir Hazrat Abubakar ne yeh ayat tilawat ki. {Wa Ma Muhammadun Illa Rasoolun Qad Khalat Min Qablihir Rusul, Afa In Mata, Aw Qotila Inqalabtum Ala A'qabikum}. Yahan tak ki aap ne yeh ayat mukammal farma di. Phir aap neeche tashreef le aaye aur (ab) in baaton se musalmanon ne khushi mehsoos ki aur yeh khoob khush huye aur munafiqeen ko musibat pad gayi. Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar ka irshad hai. Is zaat ki qasam! Jis ke qabza mein meri jaan hai. Yun lagta tha jaisa ki humare chehron par parde thay jo hata diye gaye.
ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَجَاءَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُسَجًّى ، فَوَضْعَ فَاهُ عَلَى جَبِينِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَعَلَ يُقَبِّلُهُ وَيَبْكِي وَيَقُولُ : " بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي ، طِبْتَ حَيًّا وَطِبْتَ مَيِّتًا ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ مَرَّ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ وَهُوَ يَقُول : " مَا مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَا يَمُوتُ حَتَّى يَقْتُلَ اللَّهُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ ، قَالَ : وَكَانُوا قَدِ اسْتَبْشَرُوا بِمَوْتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَرَفَعُوا رُءُوسَهُمْ ، فَقَالَ : أَيُّهَا الرَّجُلُ ، ارْبَعْ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ مَاتَ ، أَلَمْ تَسْمَعِ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ : ﴿ إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُمْ مَيِّتُونَ ﴾ [ الزمر : ٣٠ ] وَقَالَ : ﴿ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ الْخُلْدَ أَفَإِنْ مِتَّ فَهُمُ الْخَالِدُونَ ﴾ [ الأنبياء : ٣٤ ] قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَتَى الْمِنْبَرَ فَصَعِدَهُ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنْ كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَهَكُمُ الَّذِي تَعْبُدُونَ فَإِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ قَدْ مَاتَ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ إِلَهَكُمُ الَّذِي فِي السَّمَاءِ فَإِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ لَمْ يَمُتْ ، ثُمَّ تَلَا ﴿ وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ أَفَإِنْ مَاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انْقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَى أَعْقَابِكُمْ ﴾ [ آل عمران : ١٤٤ ] حَتَّى خَتَمَ الْآيَةَ ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَ وَقَدِ اسْتَبْشَرَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ بِذَلِكَ وَاشْتَدَّ فَرَحُهُمْ ، وَأَخَذَتِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ الْكَآبَةُ ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ : فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، لَكَأَنَّمَا كَانَتْ عَلَى وُجُوهِنَا أَغْطِيَةٌ فَكُشِفَتْ "
