Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3192
Atiyyah narrated that Abu Sa’id said, ‘on the Day of Badr, the Romans had a victory over the Persians. So, the believers were pleased with that, then the following was revealed – [Alif-Laam-Meem. The Romans (Christians) have been defeated (by the Persians - Fire worshipers), in the nearby land (of Syria), but after their defeat, they will be victorious (again), within a few years. To Allah belongs the command both before and after (any event). And at the time (when the Romans will be victorious), the believers will rejoice at the victory willed by Allah. He gives victory to whoever He wills. For He is the Almighty, Most Merciful.] (Ar-Room: 1-5). So the believers were happy with the victory of the Romans over the Persians.’ Imam Tirmidhi said, this Hadith is Hasan Gharib from this route. This is how Nasr bin 'Ali recited it ‘Ghalabat Ar-Rum’ ( ُُّ ومغَلَبَتِ الر).

ابو سعید خدری رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ بدر کی لڑائی کے موقع پر جب رومی اہل فارس پر غالب آ گئے تو مومنوں کو اس سے خوشی حاصل ہوئی ۱؎ اس پر یہ آیت: «الم غلبت الروم» سے لے کر «يفرح المؤمنون بنصر الله» ۲؎ تک نازل ہوئی، وہ کہتے ہیں: روم کے فارس پر غلبہ سے مسلمان بےحد خوش ہوئے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث اس سند سے حسن غریب ہے، ایسے ہی نصر بن علی نے «غَلَبَتِ الرُّومُ» ( «غ» اور «ل» کے زبر کے ساتھ ) پڑھا ہے۔
Abu Saeed Khudri (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Badar ki larai ke mauqe par jab Rumi Ahl-e-Fars par ghalib aa gaye to Momino ko is se khushi hasil hui 1؎ is par yeh aayt: «al-m ghalabat al-rum» se lekar «yufarrah al-muminoon binasrillah» 2؎ tak nazil hui, woh kehte hain: Rum ke Fars par ghalba se musalman behad khush hue. Imam Tirmidhi kehte hain: yeh hadith is sand se hasan gharib hai, aise hi Nasr bin Ali ne «ghalabati al-rum» ( «gh» aur «l» ke zabar ke sath ) padha hai.
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ بَدْرٍ ظَهَرَتْ الروم عَلَى فَارِسَ فَأَعْجَبَ ذَلِكَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَنَزَلَتْ الم غُلِبَتِ الرُّومُ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ يَفْرَحُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِنَصْرِ اللَّهِ سورة الروم آية 1 ـ 5، قَالَ: فَفَرِحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِظُهُورِ الروم عَلَى فَارِسَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، كَذَا قَرَأَ نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ: 0 غَلَبَتِ الرُّومُ 0.
